Established in 2021, SIMA's $90M Energy Access Relief Fund (EARF) supported energy access companies facing liquidity challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the first energy access fund addressing the crisis, EARF has disbursed $87.5 million to 97 companies across 20 countries. It prioritized support for women-led companies and small to mid-sized energy access firms facing liquidity challenges. This fund underscores SIMA’s commitment to promoting energy access and highlights our focus on gender lens investing, qualifying for the 2X Challenge. EDFF pioneers essential financing for small and mid-sized off-grid solar and clean cooking LMDs, using innovative digital solutions to streamline operations and empower locally owned, digitally enabled distributors.
