Last month, SWB Executive Director Jennifer Tepper had the honor of being a Keynote Speaker at the Online Sport Leadership Program (OSLP) Summit 2024 in Tuguegarao City, Philippines. During her keynote, Jennifer highlighted SWB's mission of using soccer as a vehicle for positive change, emphasized the power of networking with like-minded changemakers, and shared her insights on nonprofit fundraising. The OSLP Summit is dedicated to bringing together sports leaders and coaches to collectively shape Philippines sports while fostering collaboration and promoting Olympic values for community growth. The summit was co-founded by notable figures in Philippine sports: founder and convener of the Mindanao Peace Games, Coach Noli Ayo, and former Olympic swimmer Akiko Thomson-Guevara OLY, who received the Olympian for Life Award for her efforts in using her Olympic experience to make the world a better place. The event was generously hosted by Tuguegarao City Councilwoman and former volleyball player, Charo Soriano. The event also featured a lineup of inspirational sport-for-good speakers, including Ilse Vanhoorelbeke, owner of Otentiko in Belgium; Pearl Managuehlod, Board Member of the Philippine Olympic Committee; Mary Joy Tabal OLY, a trailblazing long-distance runner; Angeline Gervacio, Co-Founder of Beach Volleyball Republic and Director of the FEU Volleyball program; Paulo Tatad Executive Director of the Philippines Sports Commission; Erika Dy Executive Director of SBP; and Gretchen Ho, broadcaster, television presenter and former volleyball player. Stay tuned for more updates about the conference, Jennifer's experience, and the crucial role that summits like these play in driving positive social change through sports.

Building a more inclusive world through soccer
About us
Soccer Without Borders’ mission is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change. In the USA, we provide newcomer refugee, asylee, and immigrant youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion and personal success. Internationally, our programs engage under-served communities. What We Do: We provide team-based programming to youth who are traditionally excluded from sports-based and extracurricular activities. Our activity framework provides participants with an avenue for positive engagement, a platform for personal growth, and a toolkit for a brighter future. That framework includes: soccer play and instruction, team-building, civic engagement, off-field education, and cultural exchange. Through these activities and with the support of caring coaches and mentors in a close-knit team environment, youth gain access to the skills and networks they need to reach their potential. Where We Work: Soccer Without Borders currently operates 7 year-round programs in 3 countries on 3 continents. Please visit www.soccerwithoutborders.org for more information on each of our program sites. [Soccer Without Borders is not in any way affiliated with Doctors Without Borders. Last week, SWB Assist Director Nora Dooley and SWB Maryland Senior Program Coordinator Hajar Abulfazl were in Kansas City to represent Soccer Without Borders at The Women's Cup! Founded in an effort to promote and elevate women’s soccer on a global scale, the KC edition of the annual international club soccer competition featured KC Current, Atlético de Madrid Feminino, INAC Kobe Leonessa, and Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies F.C.! While at the tournament, Nora and Hajar led activities for youth, connected with soccer-for-good partners, and lifted up the importance of providing opportunities for girls from ALL backgrounds to get in the game! "The most enjoyable part was coaching youth during the event and learning about the community", recalled Hajar. "It's evident that soccer transcends international boundaries, offering endless opportunities for growth and learning."

During our recent trip to Nairobi, Fahaby Kitimbo and I had an opportunity to visit M.A.D. Sisters, a new SWB partner we've gotten to know through the Equal Play Effect Africa project supported by the #GIZ. Founded in 2016 this team of 8 incredible 'sisters' has been supporting 1000 fellow girls and women in the vibrant #Kibera community through education, football, and entrepreneurship support. . In just a few hours together, it was clear that this group is truly Making a Difference (M.A.D.) in Kibera, and I'm looking forward to finding new ways to continue our partnership through sports-based youth development and gender equality. . A huge shoutout to Val, Belinda and the team for welcoming us into their space for an entire afternoon. If you want to learn more about the work of this incredible community based organization, or provide some needed support, check them out at: https://lnkd.in/dTRye2HC . #EqualPlayEffectAfrica #Sport4Good #MADsisters #S4DAfrica Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Common Goal Soccer Without Borders
