Book Marketing & Publicity Expert | President of Smith Publicity | Public Relations for Thought Leaders & Authors | Over 75,000 media placements & counting.

Reflecting on the past year, I've realized how much my leadership style at Smith Publicity has transformed. Just over a year back from maternity leave, and it's not just about managing a growing team anymore—it's about leading with a more focused vision. I've been fortunate to attend several leadership conferences recently, meeting incredible people who have pushed me to think bigger—about what Smith could become in the next 5, 10, or 15 years. It's been about truly listening to our authors, understanding their pain points, and anticipating their needs not just now but well into the future. This shift in perspective has made me more decisive. There’s a real thrill in mapping out new services or finding the right people to bring our visions to life. But with that comes the responsibility of tough choices—like figuring out what we need to 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 doing to make room for what will drive us forward. Trying to balance day-to-day responsibilities with big-picture thinking is a challenge. It's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of immediate tasks and client needs. Yet, finding time to focus on strategic, long-term goals is crucial. It’s about ensuring that while we’re deep in the weeds, we don’t lose sight of the horizon. The past year has been a mix of excitement and nerves, as every step into new territory requires both courage and caution. But I believe this is how we stay relevant and proactive in a rapidly changing industry. As I continue to grow in my role, I’m eager to keep pushing boundaries and shaping a future where Smith Publicity, Inc. not only adapts but leads the way in innovative book marketing. What’s been an “aha moment” in your leadership style over the past year? I’m always interested in new insights from you all! #marketing #leadership #author #inspiration #innovation

According to Lead With Purpose author Roger Gerard,Ph.D. in every organization, over time you will meet cynics, apathetics, and naysayers. Roger speaks to who these folks are and how to deal with toxic employees that can be disruptive to your organization in this piece for Fast Company. "Their presence is discouraging, even toxic, to those around them. When you surround yourself with toxic people, your capabilities are poisoned." Smith Publicity, Inc.

I'm thrilled to share that I am now an official partner at Smith Publicity, Inc.!! 🎉🎉🎉 This new role isn't just a title—it's a commitment to the future of our company and the evolving landscape of the publishing industry. Over the past 15 years, I've been deeply involved in shaping the direction of Smith Publicity. The trust placed in me has allowed me to make significant decisions that impact not just our team but our authors and their stories. Owning a piece of Smith Publicity feels like a natural extension of the dedication I've already been living day-to-day. Looking ahead, my vision for “the next 15” is expansive and inclusive. The publishing world is rapidly shifting, moving beyond traditional models. We're no longer just selling books; we're creating platforms that amplify authors' voices in multifaceted ways. From holistic publicity and marketing strategies that expand well beyond the launch of a book to embracing new digital frontiers, we aim to provide support that meets each author wherever they are in their journey. The concept of a one-stop shop in publishing, once a rare commodity, is now at the forefront of my vision. We're breaking down the barriers that made certain marketing tools seem out of reach for many authors. I see Smith not just growing in size but deepening our expertise and refining our approach to be as impactful as possible without losing our personal touch. I'm also eager to personally step up my involvement in shaping the industry's future. From speaking at major events to participating in industry committees, I want to contribute to the broader conversation about the future of publishing and expert platform building. It's about creating pathways for all authors and experts, regardless of their resources, to share their ideas and succeed. This partnership marks a significant milestone not only for me but for Smith Publicity as we continue to innovate and lead in a changing world. Here's to a future filled with growth, creativity, and transformation, fostering a publishing environment that enriches, educates, and inspires. #Marketing #Innovation #Leadership #Author #Publishing

Letao Wang, a certified spiritual counselor who specializes in professional tarot, astrology, and numerology, says angel numbers are a relatively new concept, though numerology—that is, the study of the spiritual meaning of numbers—has been around for ages. “Angel numbers are repetitive numbers that we tend to see or come across in our daily life,” says Wang. “In numerology, we believe that each number carries a different vibration. So when we look at these repetitive numbers, we tend to believe it means something. It's a message that our guardian angel or what others call your spiritual higher self, the universe, trying to convey to you.” Read more here! Smith Publicity, Inc.

Made a surprise visit to the Smith Publicity, Inc. offices last week to see some of my coworkers in person. My son tagged along and enjoyed looking at all of the exciting books we have in the office! 📚 Being a working mom is not always easy (chasing after a 1 year old is tiring work!) but I truly love what I do - and these incredible people I get to do it with make it that much more rewarding! Grateful to work with such a kind and supportive team who cheer me on not just professionally but personally too! 👏🏼

The cultural work winds have changed and answering work emails and texts after hours is no longer a badge of honor says Embracing Ambition author Jenny Mitchell, CFRE, CEC, DMA in her piece for Fast Company. "Sending that quick text or email has real risks associated with it. So, think carefully before you respond." Smith Publicity, Inc.

We’re honored and excited to be a part of the launch of these titles and proud of the authors for all of the hard work, time, and energy they’ve put into making their books a reality!
