New Bill SB 1006 requiring utilities in California to evaluate grid enhancing technologies (GETs) projects in transmission planning has just been signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom⚡ GETs projects must be evaluated across seven distinct benefits: 🔹Increased transmission capacity 🔹Reduced transmission system congestion 🔹Reduced curtailment of renewable and zero-carbon resources 🔹Increased reliability 🔹Reduced risk of igniting wildfire 🔹Increased capacity to connect new renewable energy and zero-carbon resources 🔹Increased flexibility to reduce risks surrounding technology and permitting uncertainties and improve optionality for load-serving entities SB 1006➡️https://hubs.ly/Q02RsRD_0 Graphic credits: WATT Coalition

Together with ISA CTEEP we’re excited to announce the first advanced power flow control (#APFC) project in Brazil⚡The project will use SmartValve™ to support increases in electricity demand and faster integration of renewable energy. "In addition to optimizing network operations, this solution offers a shorter installation timeframe with minimal environmental impact, as it can be implemented in existing substation. This results in greater safety, resilience and flexibility for the system, both in the short and long term", said Claudio Domingorena, Executive Director of Regulation, Strategy and Innovation at ISA CTEEP. There's an air of excitement in the energy industry this week as Mario Draghi’s 'The Future of European Competitiveness' is now published! Among the many insights, Draghi reaffirms the importance of efficiently utilizing grids⚡ More specifically, the report outlines the role of innovative grid technologies to "increase the utilisation of the grid and help in achieving network buildout targets, by increasing the capacity of single power lines, providing a better understanding of the real time conditions of power lines, through actively steering power flows on the network, and by providing a better understanding of the real time stability of the power system. Assuming a reasonable coverage of innovative technologies, estimates show that the capacity/line length of the wider network could for example be improved by 20 to 40%." Another project complete in Colombia⚡We’re excited to announce the delivery of a second large-scale project with ISA Interconexión Eléctrica S.A. E.S.P. in the Atlántico region that will unlock over 300 MW of extra capacity! The Atlántico region is set to experience substantial growth in electricity demand, with 1.5 GW of wind and solar generation already approved for connection. ISA's solution of using SmartValve™ across five 220 kV circuits was selected as the optimal option to manage changing power flows and support the firm connection of renewable energy in the region.
