It was a pleasure to have you as part of the team, Tommy!
Last week, I completed my summer internship with SkyGeo in Delft, The Netherlands. 🇳🇱 Over the last 12 weeks, I have not only transformed my technical understanding of InSAR and data processing, but I have also gained insights into the realities of running an Earth Observation business. 🛰️ To summarise my major impacts: - Engineered and refined an industry-unique salinity tool that can identify the presence of salt/saltwater and estimate relative concentrations in order to help a client with site analysis - Developed understanding of advanced InSAR theory, iterative processing and software programming running scripts on Level 1 datasets, applying corrections to parameters for atmospheric effects and unwrapping errors to obtain interpretable Level 2 InSAR products. - Processed Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) and Small Baseline Subset (SBAS) python scripts, performed post-processing operations such as decomposition and polygon aggregation, and learned how to interpret and improve InSAR pointsets and interferograms in a wide range of applications - Restructured the onboarding process to improve efficiency and took the initiative of creating a training video to introduce new users to company software - Attended client meetings, consultancy training sessions and approached prospective businesses to gain exposure to the internal operations of an Earth Observation company - Organised fun social events for my colleagues This truly has been an invaluable and enriching experience, and I’d like to give a special thanks to Jennifer Scoular, Hanno Maljaars and Alexandra Urgilez Vinueza for all their support and guidance throughout.
