🚂 BNSF Railway sets the bar high with two 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 at #SkydioAscend! From one of the first to adopt a Skydio drone for asset management to now deploying systems nationwide for its full-scale, dock-based asset inventory and protection program, BNSF is an industry leader in automated workflows. They earned the 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 award for turning drone data into valuable insights like developing their own app, “Mission Control” to create missions for specific needs like post-storm rail inspection, getting eyes on derailed train cars, and much more. BNSF also received the 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗙𝗹𝘆𝗲𝗿 award for 20,000+ flights in one year, undoubtedly continuing to learn and grow from this extensive experience. Curious about the other award recipients? On blue sky days, drones fly regularly to collect performance data from our equipment and conduct routine inspections. Following a storm, drones play a more urgent role. “I just inspected about 10 poles in the matter of two minutes,” said Joshua Ward, a Duke Energy unmanned aircraft system pilot. “[Linemen] have to stop at each pole and climb up on a lift, just to look at the top of the pole.” Time saved during the assessment phase can cut restoration times for customers experiencing extended outages. As part of our Florida restoration efforts following Hurricane #Milton, Ward has been on the ground – with drone in air – gathering critical information to help crews perform their jobs faster and safer. In recent weeks, drones were deployed into the mountainous terrain of western North Carolina – made nearly inaccessible by #Helene’s destruction – to inspect damaged equipment, helping crews manage difficult conditions.

Public Safety Drone Instructor I Program Manager and Operator Specializing in Fire, Search and Rescue, and HAZMAT Response Tactics via UAS
In the wake of Hurricane Milton, our port faced a major #HazMat incident when millions of gallons of gasoline were exposed due to storm damage to a fuel silo’s floating roof. This posed significant challenges in delivering much-needed fuel to the affected communities. Live #UAS video feeds were essential in ensuring worker safety and providing real-time monitoring for stakeholders across the state. A big thank you to the Skydio team—Chris Mauser, Matt Boerwinkle Corey Hitchcock and Tal Zaitsev—for their incredible support with additional gear, resources, and expertise over the last two days. #DisasterResponse #HazMatSafety #DronesForGood

Haunted houses can’t hold a candle to the spooktacular Miami Marine Stadium, abandoned over 20 years ago. 👻 NightSense is helping to shed light on what was once a hotspot for powerboat races and the backdrop for the Elvis Presley movie, Clambake. Since closing, the stadium has been a canvas for artists and others. Wishing you all a safe and happy Halloween! 🎃 National Trust for Historic Preservation
