Ray Zinn (SJSU Lucas College of Business alum, 1968) is an inspiration to many of us. He is the longest serving CEO in Silicon Valley having co-founded Micrel in 1978. He founded a semiconductor company without venture capital and ran it for 37 years. He lost his ability to see weeks before his company went public, yet led it for 20 years. His book Tough Things First is a good summer read and has interesting insights for anyone who wants to succeed in starting and running their own company or just need life lessons My favorite Ray Zinn quote is: “Learn to love what you don’t love doing, or it will never get done.” Our alumni make us proud! Thank you for being a beacon of inspiration and resilience Ray Zinn ! Adriana Avila Anu Basu Lucas College and Graduate School of Business at SJSU

"My journey to the MSA program at San Jose State University stemmed from a lifelong passion for accounting and finance, nurtured by my upbringing in a business family in India," says recent graduate Priyanka Ramesh Nair, MS Accountancy '24. In high school, Priyanka excelled in commerce subjects and consistently ranked in the top 1%. After high school she enrolled in a Chartered Accountancy (CA) and worked as an articled audit associate in a CPA firm while completing a Master’s in Commerce. "A life-changing move to the United States in 2019 led me to pause my CA studies. Encouraged by my supportive husband, I sought advanced education to bridge the gap in my professional journey. The MSA program at SJSU, with its strong focus on data analytics and cutting-edge accounting practices, was the perfect fit." "My immediate goal is to pass the CPA exam and join Moss Adams full-time as a tax associate. I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills in a dynamic environment, helping clients navigate complex tax regulations and optimize their tax strategies. In the long term, I aim to become a leading expert in corporate and individual tax services, contributing to the success of my clients and the firm." Thank you, Priyanka, for sharing your experience with us!
