October is LGBTQIA+ History Month, a time to celebrate the contributions and resilience of the community. As we reflect on this significance, we must consider its implications for higher education. Creating genuinely safe and welcoming spaces for all students isn’t merely good practice; it’s our responsibility. Our Queer Employee Resource Group offers powerful insights on the importance of honoring history and identity in our work. Imagine a learning environment where everyone can thrive as their authentic selves, free from judgment. This vision isn’t just an ideal; it’s a goal we must actively pursue.

Last week, we gathered for an all-agency retreat that was nothing short of extraordinary. Together, we embarked on an adventure through the vibrant streets of Chicago, where creativity and camaraderie intertwined in a celebration of our shared mission. From making new connections to seeing a highlight reel of new client work, we celebrated not only our achievements but also the collaborative spirit that drives us forward. Let's also take a second to appreciate the shock of seeing everyone’s true heights. Who knew Zoom was so misleading? All in all, it was a successful retreat that left us with strengthened bonds, and more merch than we knew what to do with (special shout out to the foam finger)! #WeSayHomecoming
