Sales and a great member experience aren't mutually exclusive. In actuality, credit unions are purpose-driven and have an obligation to sell to improve the financial well-being of their members. Here is great podcast discussion with Will Milano with Integrity Selling and Bobbi McVey-Blath, CPTM, CBFM that touches on how selling IS service. https://lnkd.in/eWZCyG82 SimplyFocused provides a great framework to help develop or refine a Credit Union's approach of delivering incremental value to both the credit union and the member. SimplyFocused also helps enhance sales accountability. Sales accountability is how managers work with their sales teams to become aligned on goals and expectations. This helps individual representatives take ownership of their job responsibilities and be upfront and forthcoming about their sales performance and any possible shortcomings.

As banks and credit unions are looking to manage interest rate risk and shrinking margins, many are adding additional products and services to reach more customers and better serve those they currently have. Makes perfect sense… Banks will design large and grandiose product launches, designed with creating a buzz and generating interest in mind, both with internal employees and external customers. Makes perfect sense… These banks put time on the calendar to conduct deep product-focused training sessions for their employees and create slots for customers to learn more and buy, yet… CRICKETS…tellers and other employees are not talking about the new products and customers are not asking for them either. Management starts becoming frustrated and another product or service begins to collect dust on the shelves. Why is that? While every step above makes perfect sense on the surface, introducing more products or services on its own isn’t the challenge…the mistake happens when the HUMAN element is neglected, specifically around their belief in product/service. Ask- what you do your employees think or feel about this product or service? Do they understand the value of the financial vehicle and who benefits from it? Is there underlying skepticism around what you are introducing? If so, how can you address that head on? Without your employees understanding the WHY- why this product is important for the bank and their client base, and the HOW- how this will benefit your customers and the value the product or service brings THEM, employees will remain reluctant to engage and talk to your customers about it. What limiting beliefs are holding back your products or services? #Banking ##RelationshipManagement # #IntegritySolutions #FutureProofing #SmallBusinessBanking #ConsultativeBanking

Interesting Equifax article: https://lnkd.in/gJ-4_zKw This leads to a question - As your credit union acquires new accounts and seeks to retain current members, what is your strategy to drive member growth and deepen engagement? 1️⃣ Do you launch onboarding and member campaigns during the first 30, 60, 90 days only? 2️⃣ Is the focus strategic or more of a "dump truck" effect with multiple offers pushed out indiscriminately without any personal follow-up? 3️⃣ What happens if a member doesn’t take any action? Does your credit union take proactive action? We often hear questions like, how do we retool an ineffective onboarding program, so we can engage with our clients, keep more clients, sell more products, and create more diversified sources of revenue (while managing a flat budget), capture data, and communicate with and engage our clients in meaningful ways? With SimplyFocused, our CU partners can easily build and manage personalized outbound campaigns to help focus their budget and staff on efforts with the most opportunity for adoption and growth while being able to track and measure the success of your credit union’s efforts. Even in a digital world, personalized outreach represents an untapped area of bottom-line impact and competitive distinction for credit unions at a time when financial institutions are fighting for deposit share, retention, and trust. According to this article [ https://lnkd.in/gpXskV2f ] in The Financial Brand, most financial institutions LOSE more POTENTIAL business than they generate! Research by Cornerstone Advisors indicates the average abandonment rate for new deposit account openings is just over 50%. For lending products, the abandonment rate is even higher. "What is astounding is that close to one-third of financial institutions surveyed: 👉 lost more than 75% of the deposit accounts 👈 that consumers wanted to open While more than half of the organizations: 📉 lost more than 75% of the potential loan business. 📉 Put another way, for these banks and credit unions, they lose two accounts (or loans) for every account (or loan) opened. 😲 This is not sustainable for organizations hoping to grow their member base in the future." If your credit union is struggling to let go of legacy processes, the bottom line is: The cost of not simplifying account opening and loan applications is lost business. Good news, SimplyFocused can help remove friction, reduce abandonment, increase engagement, and improve the member experience.

Credit Unions are retail sales organizations, and that’s not a bad thing. In order to grow and fulfill their missions, they must grow. To grow they must embrace sales and sales culture. I was very happy to see a strong influx of vehicle loan opportunities flood in this morning. Leads are the start of the sales funnel, now sales accountability kicks in. Our success wouldn’t be possible without our partner SimplyFocused! Sales accountability fosters a culture of transparency where performance metrics and outcomes are openly communicated. This transparency helps in identifying high performers, recognizing their efforts, and addressing underperformance through training and support. It also builds trust within the team and across the organization. Sales accountability is a vital component of growth for credit unions and other organizations. It drives performance, aligns goals, provides valuable insights, fosters transparency, enhances customer relationships, and supports strategic improvements. These factors collectively contribute to a more effective and efficient sales process, leading to sustained growth and success.
