Summer adventures are in full swing! Two Signalers spent time exploring the US’s underwater national park system and the unique habitats and rich history it has to offer. 📍 Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary Executive Vice President Jess McCarron kayaked this stretch of the Potomac and explored the remnants of over 100 World War I-era wooden steamships known as the “Ghost Fleet”. The sanctuary provides a rich habitat for wildlife, including bald eagles, herons, and osprey, river otters and beaver, and numerous fish species. 📍Lake Ontario Marine Sanctuary Director of Finance Christine Ryon visited the US’s newest national marine sanctuary, which was designated in June this year at Capitol Hill Ocean Week. The 1,722 square-mile area tells a rich maritime history and cultural heritage that span thousands of years. A special shoutout to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation for their work connecting people to their sanctuaries. You can explore here: https://lnkd.in/e7ae5h6b
