Inclusion is transforming lives – by being part of the #InclusiveFutures initiative, we’ve helped more than 3 million people with disabilities gain access to education, jobs, and health care with the support of #FCDO and #USAID. But millions more are still waiting. As our partners from the African disability movement gather in Nairobi this week for the first regional events on the road to the Global Disability Summit in April 2025, we’re calling on global leaders to #CommitToChange and ensure no one is left behind. This is what inclusion looks like – progress, but with much more to be done. What are the UN’s Global Goals, and why should you care? Here are the facts. 👇 Nearly every country in the world has committed to 17 life-changing goals, outlined by the #UN in 2015. These are known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), or the #GlobalGoals. They aim to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for everyone by 2030. Each goal is related to areas such as poverty, health, climate change, education and many more. So why does this matter? It's simple. If we work together to achieve the Global Goals, the world will be a fairer, healthier place where no one is left behind. But to make this future a reality, there’s a lot of work to do! Find out more about how we can help achieve the Global Goals... https://lnkd.in/eabpZewJ

Antonio Guterres described the #SummitOfTheFuture as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity to reinvigorate global action” Read the article from Global Voices to see how our #EqualWorld youth champions are bringing the voices of young people with disabilities to the @UN this September! "As part of the Equal World campaign, I am dedicated to ensuring that young people with disabilities have a seat at the decision-making table, embracing the principle of “Nothing about us without us.” My greatest joy comes from seeing people with disabilities live full, uninterrupted lives." - Lydia Rosasi, MPRSK https://lnkd.in/eqDdp8Sc

PARALYMPICS Athletes from around the world have begin competing at the 2024 Paralympic Games In Paris. The Games champion the International Paralympic Committee’s vision for an inclusive world through Para Sport and set an example of what can be achieved when people with disabilities are empowered and included in all areas of society. Do you remember Olympian Tara? She lit the internet during the recently concluded Olympics becausr of how she relates with her Husbant Hunter Woodwall. Hunter will be participating in the Paralympics. I am cheering Team Kenya and I look forward to a Gold Medal(s) from the team. Also, Good luck to all the competitors from the Equal World campaign! “Everyone deserves quality eye care services.” Before our eye health project began in Karamoja, the region had never had an ophthalmologist. Dr Gladys has been spreading the word about free eye care. https://lnkd.in/dpCDx8GN

At 14, Husnah was the youngest Paralympian at the 2020 Games, and this year she’s back in the pool to represent Uganda! "Instead of hiding my hand, I raise it up to show people that I wouldn't be where I am without pushing through that barrier of disability stigma and my love of sport.… I joined sports to prove society wrong.” Good luck to all the competitors from the Equal World campaign! https://lnkd.in/dha6d6sT
