I'm excited to share that I've been busy helping grow Pickle, as their Director of Operations! Pickle is using the power of technology to make high-quality fashion more accessible, affordable, and circular, and it’s been rapidly scaling across the US (hence this very delayed post 😅). Just like Airbnb opened up and connected our homes, Pickle is doing the same for our closets: you can rent a Retrofète dress or Prada handbag from someone else’s enviable closet uptown for the weekend and, on the flip side, list an item you already own, making yourself a nice little side hustle by renting it between wears (check out TechCrunch's feature for more: https://lnkd.in/gFEC8zq6). So far this year, I've personally rented Cult Gaia and Alemais dresses for a beach vacation, a (faux!) fur coat for a themed dinner, a Reiss dress for a work event, and another Alemais stunner for a birthday celebration, to name a few. I have 11 (!!) weddings this year, so I'm looking forward to being able to save $$ without compromising on style. At Uber, we were laser focused on creating magical experiences (get ride with a click of a button?!), and it's a similar mindset that's led to Pickle taking off so quickly. The access to incredible pieces at affordable prices - with same day delivery (!!) in our core cities has created nothing short of magic. 👉 To my friends in the US - with summer vacations and wedding season picking up, it's a perfect opportunity to try out Pickle. I'd love to hear what you think! I've added a (free ☺️) download link to the thread ⬇️ PS - We're also hiring! If you know any NYC-based (or willing to relocate) Senior Engineers with founder or early-stage experience, DM me! It's an incredible opportunity to work on a transformational product with the best team. JD in the thread.

NBC News' Zinhle E. visited our West Village store and sat down with our founder, Julia O'Mara, for an inside look at the fast-growing world of peer-to-peer clothing rental through Pickle. She went behind the scenes to see it come to life with our community, visiting Ellen’s apartment where she’s built a thriving side hustle renting out items from her closet, and tagging along with Blake as she picks up the dress she rented for her birthday. A big thank you to Zinhle and the rest of the NBC crew for spending the day with us, and to our community who opened their personal doors to the world of Pickle (Pickle closets: @blakeevinn and @ellen)! https://lnkd.in/eNscUMJd

Excited about our new partners, team members, and growing community!
We are thrilled to announce that Pickle has raised $8 million in seed funding co-led by Craft Ventures and FirstMark, with participation from Burst Capital. This funding round marks a significant milestone for our company as we continue to revolutionize the way people access and consume goods. We couldn’t be more excited for the expertise and support of the team behind us including our new board member Rick Heitzmann (founder FirstMark Capital), Jeff Fluhr (founder Craft Ventures and former founder/CEO StubHub), and Geoff Donaker (founder Burst Capital and former Yelp COO). The support from these expert operators and investors validates our vision and the value of a rental marketplace. We are grateful for their confidence in our team and our innovative approach. At Pickle, our vision has always been to change the way we consume within our communities. We’ve started with peer-to-peer clothing and accessory rentals and are excited about the traction we have seen. We will continue to grow in this space, and eventually expand to all asset classes to achieve our goal of creating a true extension of your home so you are able to get anything you want, exactly when you need it, and only pay for the time that you’re actually using it. Our unique combination of high quality supply and convenient delivery options allows our users to get the most in demand items even at the last minute, when they might be in a Pickle. We believe this makes us more efficient and sustainable consumers as we get more use out of the same goods. Our solution also provides economic empowerment to members of a community by keeping the flow of payments going from one member of the community to another. At Pickle, we believe it’s unnecessary for everyone in a community to own the same things that are often very underutilized. With this new investment, we are well-positioned to enhance our platform and expand our reach, offering even more value to our users. Thank you all for being part of the Pickle community and joining us on this exciting journey. We are committed to delivering the best possible experience for our users and making a positive impact on the way we consume. Your feedback is always appreciated and please continue to always send any feedback you might have! Stay tuned for more updates and exciting new features coming your way!
