Earlier this month, we broke ground on the new Career Tech Building for Kent City Schools' Theodore Roosevelt High School! Earlier this month, our Reid Health - Connersville project teamed with our JV Partner, Skanska, to volunteer at Reid Ride. Numerous employees biked 30 miles while others passed out cooling towels at the event. Founded in 2009, this event raises money for Shoes for Kids, which provides tennis shoes for school-age kids in need. Reid Health partners with local agencies and several local school systems to connect children with these shoes. Sam is continuing the fourth generation of construction in his family. His great-grandfather was a residential home builder who began the path for his family. Not only is Sam continuing that tradition, he is following in the very same footsteps as his grandfather: "Almost 60 years later, I graduated from the same school with the same major and have been working for the same company since my graduation." Sam works for Shook Construction, starting first as a Project Engineer/Project Manager and now working in Business Development. As for future generations of the construction workforce, Sam says the future is full of potential: "Every construction company I know is looking to hire (and retain) quality individuals. As older generations retire and phase out of the industry, companies are figuring out ways to draw in the younger generations. Earlier this month, Shook had the opportunity to present to attendees at the 2024 One Water Ohio Conference. The conference supports the community of professionals operating within the water space in Ohio, including members of OWEA and AWWA, along with contractors and engineers. We used the opportunity to inspire a ripple effect of positive change by sharing the story of how we developed a mission trip program to offer our time, talent, and treasure on a global scale. Over the weekend, the team was excited to attend the ribbon cutting for 3 new elementary schools with Perry Local Schools. Organized by the district, and attended by board of education members, district administration, civic leaders and hundreds of students and residents, we celebrated the opening of these new schools and the opportunities they will bring to the district for their youngest learners. Superintendent Nathan Stutz commented, "We believe these buildings will continue to offer our students new opportunities and solidify Perry Local Schools as one of the best districts in our area." After a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the schools were opened to the community for tours to see first-hand where students will be attending for the upcoming school year. Thank you to FMD Architects for these photos from the new Manchester High School in New Franklin. We could not be more excited to see the finished product later this month when the Manchester Local School District officially opens the doors, ushering in a new era for students in this Summit County community.     This brand-new facility features a converted multi-purpose room and student dining with pull out auditorium seating, a new competition gym, and space for 425 students. Renovations are also happening at the current high school, which will be used to accommodate pre-K through fifth grade.     We thank Project Manager Karen Little for her efforts, as well as Shook Construction for their work in making this facility a reality. Finally, a special thanks goes out to Superintendent Gary Hinton, former Superintendent Dr. James Robinson, MHS Principal Scott Ross, Treasurer Jennifer Rucker, the school board, and the rest of the MSLD admin staff for their tireless work on this project. #TeamOhio #PantherCountry 

Our Summer Co-Op term is coming to a close. This semester, Shook had 32 Co-Ops ingrained in our projects and departments, where they gained exposure to various markets and phases of construction. It's been fun to watch these young men and women grow, and we cannot wait to see them take the next step in their professional careers! #CooperativeEducation #ShookCareers #CareerDevelopment

West Carrollton Schools' new Elementary School for Grades 2-4 is making great progress! 90% of the first-floor academic area masonry is complete with second-story masonry and mechanical and electrical rough-ins beginning soon. Steel is moving along great and most of our summer site work is complete. Progress is moving fast and efficiently with outstanding subcontractors working with us. We look forward to seeing the students' smiling faces inside this building next school year! #wcpiratepride #construction #education
