    \Shiseido's Answer Through 30 Years of Research -Basement Membrane-/ Shiseido has been a pioneer in basement membrane research for over 30 years and has clarified the mechanism of basement membranes and beautiful skin. Basement membrane is a very thin membrane between the epidermis and dermis, which plays an important role in rejuvenating beautiful and healthy skin. Recent research has shown that the condition of the basement membrane has a significant impact on skin beauty and is the source of skin regeneration. We discovered that basement membrane is involved in the decrease and maintenance of epidermal stem cells, which play a key role in skin regeneration. Furthermore, UV rays cause significant damage to the basement membrane. Suppressing this damage will help maintain the skin's ability to regenerate. From an extensive screening of over 20,000 potential ingredients, we have discovered an ingredient that approaches the basement membrane and has multiple effects on the entire skin.     \SHISEIDO Future Solution LX Renewal Event in Kyoto/ Future Solution LX, the top series of global brand SHISEIDO, which is available in 88 countries and regions worldwide, was renewed on September 1st. To celebrate this renewal, guests from around the world were invited to the renewal event held in Kyoto from 3rd to 5th of September.     \Shiseido blends a century of research with advanced AI technology/ Shiseido and Accenture have jointly developed a Formulation Development AI utilizing proprietary algorithms. The company has embarked on the challenging process of converting TAKUMI (Artisan skills), the heritage passed down to its researchers, into more than half a million data points. These have been meticulously entered into a comprehensive database and blended with AI technology to enhance the company’s research and development capabilities. This Formulation Development AI, which Shiseido has begun to utilize for new value creation, has been integrated into the unique cosmetic development digital platform "VOYAGER" and has been fully operational since February 2024. We will continue to utilize formulation development AI from various perspectives, including diversifying consumer needs, to aim for the creation of innovative beauty values.     \Explore Shiseido's 2024 Window Art "Karakusa" at the Ginza Building/ At Shiseido Ginza Building, a limited-time window art display "SHISEIDO KARAKUSA: A Rhythm Played by Lines" is now open to the public until the end of February 2025 (tentative). This window artwork consists of a large glass-fronted window display and the entrance space on the first floor (Heritage Zone and Play Zone). The theme for 2024 is "Karakusa". Arabesque karakusa pattern, a motif symbolizing Shiseido's sense of beauty, has been widely used by Shiseido's creators since 1920, enriching its expression through cosmetic packaging designs and advertisements, incorporating the mood of each era.     \Shiseido offers employees childcare support services/ Through its wholly-owned subsidiary KODOMOLOGY Co.,Ltd., Shiseido supports employees who are raising children by offering them the childcare support service "KANGAROOM+," launched in April 2023. This includes "Kids Program" events held during long school holidays. During this summer vacation period, children experienced various jobs within the Shiseido Group. It was impressive to see their enthusiastic expressions as they learned while having fun! We hope this experience will become a special summer memory for them. Junior high and high school students who were interested in volunteering also joined in to assist with the program operation, adding more energy to the event. Beyond fostering deeper parent-child communication by allowing children to see their parents' workplaces and jobs, we aim to inspire interest in work and encourage children to think about their future.     \Serge Lutens conducted impactful masterclasses in Saudi Arabia/ In a strategic move to deepen engagement and enhance brand presence, Serge Lutens recently conducted three impactful masterclasses across Saudi Arabia at Faces.The masterclasses, held in Jeddah, Riyadh, and Khobar, marked a significant milestone in bridging the gap between consumers and niche fragrances. The series of masterclasses was meticulously conducted to educate, inspire and engage consumers about Serge Lutens' exquisite range of niche fragrances, renowned for their artistry and sophistication. Each session was designed not only to showcase the brand's exceptional offerings but also to empower attendees with the knowledge of the brand's DNA; rich with story-telling, inspired from the life and experiences of the brand's Creator, Mr. Lutens. A PR event was also organized in Riyadh Saudi Arabia earlier this year.     In June, Shiseido Americas proudly sponsored the 2024 Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing and Management Master's Program Capstone Research Presentations, Graduation Awards, and Industry Reception at FIT's Haft Theater in NYC. For this year's Capstone project, the graduating students developed innovative and in-depth presentations around the topic of The Future of Accessible Beauty. We also had the honor of presenting the second annual Shiseido Innovation Award to a group of deserving students whose project work pushes the boundaries of what is possible, and who will create a lasting impact on our industry.
