The greatest discoveries are at the intersection of disciplines. I love this picture because teammates of so many backgrounds are working together to prepare for a flight test - pushing the boundary of knowledge and capability. They are achieving something no person could ever do alone in a lifetime. Teamwork is magical. I regularly walk the floor to learn from my teammates. On this particular day, the team had no time for me, I chatted with a one or two people before I got the message - we're on a mission. So, I stepped back and took this picture. LFG! 🦅 💪 Shield AI

This picture is rare. Because these drones are so new, there are only a handful of photos and--despite what most claim--almost no videos of them exist online. This is a BQM-177 target drone. Built by Kratos Defense and Security Solutions, this is the military's latest and greatest target drone and is used as anti-ship cruise missile targets--making it one of the fastest and most maneuverable drones in the world. Shield AI is partnering with the US Navy to integrate autonomy into the BQM-177 and turn these into prototype flying test beds to accelerate autonomy integration with the warfighter. Proud to be part of the team that's going to crush this. My crystal ball says the lack of photos and videos will change dramatically in the near future 🔮 That other thing the BQM-177 is lacking: to my knowledge, it doesn't have a formal name--yet. Maybe it'll earn a proper name through this initiative... #ai #autonomy #navy #technology press release: https://lnkd.in/gq5nDi6c

Aircraft #7 for Hivemind. Jet Aircraft #3. 7 feet off the deck at 700 mph, let's go!   Our work with Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Strike Planning and Execution program (PMA-281) and Aerial Targets program (PMA-208) on the BQM-177 project will push the boundaries of what our AI pilot can achieve with high-speed, low-altitude maneuvers, and we’re grateful the Navy trusts our team and AI pilot to do the job! “This effort not only expands our validation spectrum but offers a scalable solution that benefits the entire naval aviation community, ensuring the Navy remains at the forefront of technological innovation.” Read NAVAIR’s full press release: https://lnkd.in/e8BPp5fm Autonomy for the world. Flying 200 mph, 500 feet above the Ocean off the coast of Austrailia, I assume there was a conversation that went like this: "I need you to hang out of the plane and drop the guy a life raft." "Sir, What?" "We'll hook you in, then I want you to drop the life raft so he can grab it." "Uh, you got it, Sir." "Make sure it's very close! He's 8 hours in the water, 90km offshore, and already 23km away from his own boat. If we miss by too much, he won't reach it, he's dead." "You got it, Sir." "But, make sure you don't hit him. In that case, he's also dead." "LFG, Sir." In 2021, Nigel Fox, was knocked overboard after a storm hit his vessel. He was 8 hours in the water, 90km offshore, and 23 km from his vessel. The Australian Maritime Safety Authority was cued to his location by his transponder and arrived on station with a Challenger aircraft but had difficulty locating him. Their aircraft was equipped with Shield AI ViDAR, a wide area sensing array that improves aircraft rate of search by between 10 and 40 times. At 3.4 nautical miles, the ViDAR located Nigel, and some bad-asses on the plane nailed the trick shot of the year. We look forward to bringing cutting edge capability like this to the U.S. Coast Guard next year as part of our $200M program to provide unmanned aircraft services.

A VBAT without wings. At Shield AI, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL, pronounced "Hill") is crucial for validating software before flight tests. The HIL system replicates nearly all flight-relevant avionics, including power, actuation, communication, sensing, flight control, and mission control. This rigorous setup applies quality gates to software updates, from minor configuration changes to significant AI enhancements for GPS-denied operations. HIL fixtures like this one are essential for rapid software development—enabling Shield AI to bring third-party jets to AI-powered flight in under 180 days and to safely implement advanced AI features for flight testing within just 24 hours. And, we are getting faster everyday. Shield AI
