Welcome Kim! 🌟
A couple of weeks ago, we announced that the She’s in Power program is joining STEMblazers. Based in Fort Collins, She’s in Power is dedicated to providing women opportunities to explore and pursue careers in the clean energy sector. By integrating She’s in Power into STEMblazers, we are expanding our collective impact and commitment to closing the gender gap in STEM, with a special focus on clean energy careers. As we integrate She's in Power into the STEMblazers program suite, we have added a new Program Manager to lead this important program. We are pleased to announce that Kim Cortes has joined our team. As a former woman in STEM, Kim joins the STEMblazers organization with nearly ten years of experience in the nonprofit and public sectors. She is known for her enthusiastic leadership, advocacy skills, and commitment to data-driven programming. Kim holds a Master’s in Environmental Science and a J.D. with a focus on environmental law. For the past seven years, she has led workforce programs for people with disabilities. Kim is passionate about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workforce. She is excited to combine her care and concern for the environment with her workforce development skills to lead the She’s in Power program.
Joining Forces for Greater Impact We have some exciting news to share with you! After extensive exploration, discussions, and due diligence, She’s in Power will transition to STEMblazers on August 1, 2024. STEMblazers is a Denver-based nonprofit that shares our commitment to empowering girls and women to enter fields where they are historically underrepresented. Since 2014, STEMblazers has provided career exploration STEM programs to middle and high school girls throughout Denver and has recently expanded into Weld County. With a shared vision and values, along with combined expertise and networks, integrating She’s in Power’s workforce program with STEMblazers provides a unique opportunity to enhance and expand our collective impact in closing the gender gap. She’s in Power’s fall program will launch in mid-August - you can expect our same great program! We are so excited about the future with STEMblazers - the potential to impact more girls and women is unlimited. She's In Power was honored to attend the USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack's announcement of the Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) program investment in Northern Colorado hosted by Poudre Valley REA. The $9.12 million investment will help PVREA provide 80% clean energy by 2030 without raising rates and securing clean, affordable energy for Northern Colorado.
