Winners for Wellness, our community-wide festival celebrating BIPOC Mental Health Month, is on Saturday from 11:00 - 4:00 PM! We're so excited about the event and the empowering speakers in attendance, including Cassandra D. Harris-Gray. Cassandra D. Harris Gray is a dynamic speaker, author, teacher, counselor, and corporate trainer with 25 years of experience in behavioral and mental health services. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Kentucky State University and an M.S. in Counseling from Campbellsville University. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, she co-founded Creative Spirits Networks, Inc. and serves as CEO and Clinical Director of Creative Spirits Behavioral Health, Inc. She authored "90 Days of Power," leads marriage conferences, and coaches women for Power to Exhale, a movement connecting over 100,000 women globally. Cassandra has hosted the web show "In the Multitude of Counsel" and served as a therapist for the 2014 Pastors and Leadership Conference by Bishop TD Jakes. Ordained by Bishop TD Jakes in 2012, she co-pastored New Mt Zion Baptist Church for 35 years and is active in Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. Winners for Wellness is on Sunday, July 20th, from 11:00 - 4:00 PM at the California Community Center! We're excited to introduce our speaker, Fairen Kia. Fairen Kia is a body positive activist, model, and self-published author of "Dear Fat Girls: When Love Wasn’t Enough," where she shares her survival story from an abusive relationship. Known as the Champion of Self Love, Fairen currently makes it her life’s mission to change the narrative of the word fat from a negative connotation to a positive and uplifting conversation about owning your agency and having body confidence. Fairen founded Love Thy Belly, a body-positive organization, and works to represent plus-size individuals in multimedia forms. She is a wedding officiant, podcast personality, and body confidence coach with nearly two decades of experience, offering workshops, master classes, and events to promote self-love and body confidence. We're pleased to introduce Dr. Patricia Bautista-Cervera to our Winners for Wellness speaker lineup! Dr. Bautista-Cervera, born in Mexico City, earned her medical degree from UNAM and trained as a Pediatrician and Pediatric Allergist at the National Institute of Pediatrics. She received a Master of Public Health from the University of Louisville in 2018. Since 2019, she has worked with La Casita Center as a Health Empowerment Coordinator, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and advocacy for the Latinx community. She played a key role in establishing culturally informed vaccination clinics. Dr. Bautista-Cervera joined the LMPHW Board of Health in 2022, serving as co-chair of the Immunizations Advocacy Committee, and was elected Chair in July 2024. She also serves on several advisory boards, including the University of Louisville Superfund Research Center and the People Against Trafficking Humans Coalition of Kentucky. She continues to advocate for immunizations and health equity in Louisville and Kentucky. We're pleased to introduce Dr. (Coach) Pat Ivey! Dr. Pat Ivey is the Assistant Vice President/ Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Health and Performance at the University of Louisville. He oversees the departments of Sports Medicine, Sports Performance, Sports Nutrition, Mental Health and Performance, and Sports Science. Dr. Ivey is also currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri and Logan University, teaching courses in Foundations of Sport Performance and Organizational Administration, respectively, via online Master’s degree programs. He is a former collegiate and professional (NFL) football athlete. Dr. Ivey is also the owner of Pat Ivey Performance. Brookins is the Customer Relations Manager at EnovaPremier, LLC., a leading MBE in automotive manufacturing. He has served on the Winners for Wellness committee for five years and volunteers with various organizations, including the J. O. Blanton House, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Education Foundation, March of Dimes, Alpha Midwest Charitable Foundation, and Bluegrass Automotive Manufacturing Association. He holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Morehead State University and an Executive MBA from Sullivan University. Cecil is married to Dr. Tish Brookins, and they have 17-year-old twins Amari and Emory.
