🍸 With Austin's opening this summer, we are reflecting on 50 years of opening restaurants! February 12th, 1973 Steve Nygren opened the Pleasant Peasant in a broken down building from 1900 at 555 Peachtree. Many of the older properties in Midtown were demolished, some remaining vacant for decades. But, Nygren could afford to lease the building which had great bones and potential. Soon it was bustling with french onion soup, steak au poivre, cheese bread, flower pot dessert, and more classics. Who remembers way back when? It has been 50 years since the Pleasant Peasant was opened. We are truly touched by the flood of memories shared from the past 30, 40, and 50 years. It's heartwarming to reflect on the many individuals who contributed to the unique culture and lasting quality upheld over the years. Special memories of Steve Nygren's partners, Dick Dailey and Bob Amick, alongside senior VPs Barbara Van and Larry Johnson, among many others.
