Merchant Navy Day is celebrated on 03 September, honouring the contribution of the Merchant Navy in two World Wars, and in our present day. To mark the occasion, Seapeak Management and Cadets joined a ceremony at the Glasgow City Chambers, to highlight the service and dedication of those in the Merchant Navy.

Over 90 of Seapeak’s Senior Officers, Junior Officers and Cadets visited Glasgow last week for the 2024 Seafarer Conference. “Communicate with Care” was the theme for this year’s event, with presentations, discussions and activities led by the Shore Team from our offices in Glasgow, Singapore and Copenhagen. Some time for teambuilding as well, courtesy of Pinkston Watersports. Special thanks to our Senior Management Team for their interactions over the three days and the Training & Recruitment Team for co-ordinating it all!

We take this opportunity to celebrate women at Seapeak – both at sea and on shore – and to confirm Seapeak’s commitment in promoting the recruitment, retention and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector. This year we raise the profile of women in maritime in announcing the Seapeak Betsy Miller Award. The award – for significant contribution to the progression of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) efforts which benefit the maritime industry – will be open to Cadets at a selected Nautical College.
