Insightful final session at #ONSHOREWIND24 on designing a planning system that doubles onshore wind by 2030, with our Senior Policy Analyst, Suzie Saunders, setting out her ask of government for more national direction on the NPF4 policies around providing more for people and nature. Raising the need for clearer guidance and more certainty for both developers and local authorities, Suzie highlighted the need to consider local impacts when we're working to maximise socio economic benefits from renewable developments. #Renewables #Planning #NPF4 Scottish Renewables RenewableUK

WatchKeeper™ Build in Action ⚓🦺   The Partrac team has been hard at work this past week, assembling two AXYS Technologies Inc. WatchKeepers™ at SMS Group | Ship Repair | Marine Interiors | Marine Engineering | SC SQEP, Lowestoft Port, in preparation for their deployment at ScottishPower Renewables EA3 wind farm, just off the East Coast of England. 📍🌊🌍   These WatchKeepers are equipped with a comprehensive suite of sensors to measure essential operational parameters, including wind speed and direction, wave height and direction, currents, and much more. Perfectly designed for metocean monitoring, they play a critical role in Offshore Wind construction projects. 🤓   When it comes to making vital decisions, having the best expertise and experience matters. That’s where Partrac proudly steps in to support the rapidly growing industry. 🌟   #Partrac #Venterra #HelpingWindPowerGrow #ScottishPowerRenewables #SMSGroup #Lowestoft #Port #EastAnglia #OffshoreWind #Renewables #WatchKeeper #Axys

Great first day at #ONSHOREWIND24 - our Onshore Development MD, Gillian Noble, joined the opening state of the nation panel this morning which focused on the future of onshore wind. Describing how she sees that future, she talked about the optimism she feels given the speed of change and actions we have seen in the past few weeks alone, and that whilst Scotland has led the charge in onshore wind, strengthened collaboration across Developers, UK Government and Devolved Administrations in the weeks and months ahead will bring the opportunity to grow and accelerate deployment of this established technology across all of the UK. The wait is over… It’s AR6 results day! 📣 We are delighted to confirm our East Anglia THREE and TWO offshore windfarms were successful in their bids for a Contract for Difference (CfD) - a huge vote of confidence in our projects and in the power of offshore wind. Representing more than 2.3GW of capacity in total, these two developments will provide power for millions of homes and help deliver a cleaner and greener future for the UK 💚 Find out more about our East Anglia projects on our website 👇 https://lnkd.in/ejTZSzPr

We’re excited to have won two offshore wind contracts today in today’s #AR6 Contracts for Difference auction 🍃 The contracts will deliver more than 1,000MW of clean, green electricity – enough to power the equivalent of more than one million homes. Keith Anderson, ScottishPower CEO said: “Offshore wind is back on track after last year’s misstep which is great news for consumers. The only solution to weaning the UK off volatile fossil fuels which are the root cause of increasing bills is more clean, green energy.”

It’s a momentous occasion for wind energy this week, as RenewableUK marks a milestone 30GW of capacity reached across the UK.   That’s enough to meet more than 25% of the UK’s electricity needs, or supply around 26 million homes with power for a year.   As the first integrated energy company in the country to generate 100% green electricity, we have always seen the power of wind resources.   We’ve now around 2GW of onshore wind capacity in operation, and over 900MW offshore – contributing nearly 10% of the UK’s 30GW total.   But our ambitions remain even higher, with more than 11GW planned on land and in waters around the country. Meanwhile, onshore repowering projects will see our existing sites produce more energy with fewer turbines - all of which helps us deliver a greener future, quicker.   #WindsOfChange

We’ve just completed one of the most ambitious peatland restoration projects ever consented to a developer in the UK.   After 15 years and £1.4m investment, we’ve restored over 1,000 hectares of peat bog at Whitelee – which has the potential to store the equivalent of 3.6million tonnes of carbon dioxide. And the methods we’ve developed have set industry standards and now form the backbone of NatureScot's technical compendium on peatland restoration.   Our Ecologist, Glenn Norris, said: “At Whitelee, not only are we curbing carbon emissions through renewable energy technology, we’re also using peatland’s natural carbon sink potential. By restoring degraded peatlands we’re stopping them from emitting carbon dioxide and helping them store carbon in the soil, making them a carbon sink rather than a source; the benefits are two-fold.”   Read more about our peatland restoration at Whitelee here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXuaUzDT   #PeatlandRestoration #Peatland #PeatBog #Ecology #ResponsibleDeveloper #Investment #IndustryStandards

Great to see planning permission granted for our fourth kittiwake ‘hotel’ in Lowestoft 🏨 Built as part of the development of our East Anglia HUB windfarms, the new artificial nesting structure will help provide a valuable nesting habitat for kittiwakes associated with the Flamborough and Filey Coast Special Protection Area. A huge thanks to SLR Consulting for their support in reaching this milestone. We hope to begin welcoming new guests once the structure is installed later this year 💚 Learn more about our work with kittiwakes in Lowestoft here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJDE3edS

SLR has successfully secured planning permission on behalf of ScottishPower Renewables for the installation of an artificial nesting structure (ANS) for kittiwakes at the Port of Lowestoft. Adam Gailitis, Project Planner at SLR, acted as the lead planning consultant, liaising with East Suffolk Council, the governing authority. Affectionately referred to as ‘the bird hotel’, the ANS will provide a valuable nesting habitat for the local kittiwake population. Kittiwakes are on the UK conservation ‘red list’ and numbers have declined by 40% globally since the 1970s. SLR were pleased to lead on this planning application which will provide relief for a species that are categorised as vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s red list.
