The Indigenous Knowledge sessions at Science Summit UNGA79 will spotlight the vital contributions of Indigenous communities to global sustainable development. Experts, policymakers, and indigenous leaders will converge to showcase the fusion of traditional knowledge with modern science for addressing the UN SDGs. Key sessions like “Harnessing Archaeology and SDGs for the Better Future of Africa”, convened by ALECSO - الألكسو and https://www.malecso.org/ delve into community engagement in climate change adaptation and preserving indigenous wisdom. This emphasizes environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and biodiversity conservation, aligning with SDG 13, SDG 15, and SDG 17. Another session, “Supporting and Raising Awareness on Indigenous Leadership in Research,” by the National Science Foundation (NSF), focuses on empowering Indigenous researchers, promoting culturally safe practices, and fostering equitable partnerships to support SDGs 4 and 10. The “Indigenous Mental Health” session led by Yale University School of Medicine will explore integrating traditional healing practices with modern mental health approaches, emphasizing cultural resilience and community-based strategies. Additionally, Yachaq Warmi's “Indigenous Women in STEM for Sustainable Development” session will spotlight innovative projects led by Indigenous women, blending traditional knowledge with modern science to tackle global challenges and promote gender equality. This plenary seeks to amplify Indigenous leadership in creating a sustainable and equitable future through global partnerships, inclusive research, and merging traditional and modern methodologies. Join us at the Roundtable: Advancing Maternal and Fetal Health through POCUS Training and Certification, alongside event during the WHO World Health Assembly and the AI for Good Global Summit. Inteleos is a global non-profit community of more than 140,000 medical professionals united in assuring that patients obtain the highest quality healthcare. This roundtable will focus on certifying primary maternal health clinicians in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) as a key strategy to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of significantly reducing maternal mortality by 2030. The discussion will address the disparities in maternal and child health services across different economic segments in low-income countries, underscoring the urgency of expanding ultrasound training and certification. The availability of affordable ultrasound equipment has surpassed healthcare providers’ training capabilities, emphasising the necessity for enhanced training and certification to ensure patient safety. Expanding ultrasound proficiency among clinicians improves coverage of this vital intervention and enhances the quality and access to maternal care. The initiative advocates for comprehensive policy shifts and standardised guidelines to extend clinicians’ practice scope, recognising midwives, nurses, and clinical officers for their roles in obstetric ultrasound screenings.
