A brief, updated profile on our CEO David Rust. Some of favorite responses are here: With a magic wand, what would you eliminate in New York state: "People getting left out of economic opportunity in rural and urban areas right now. I would like to see incentivization of private-sector jobs that allow everyone to access a living wage in our community." First place to look for talent? "Internally here at Say Yes. Since we launched, probably 90% have come from within, so we invest in our team. I want them to move up and move out and take on other leadership roles in the community. We’re doing really important work here, creating access to economic viability." Most amazing part of the job? "The thousands of students that we've helped to support with the scholarships – and the scholarships are going to be here forever. When we’re all gone, this endowment will be here supporting the children in Buffalo. It’s an extraordinary investment that will continue improving lives for hundreds of years. It’s hard to find something better than that."

Good things happen in threes- three cohorts, that is! CareerWise Greater Buffalo’s Modern Youth Apprenticeship September All Apprentice Cohort Meeting was the first time all three cohorts were under the same roof. Cohort meetings are an opportunity for apprentices to learn from each other’s experiences, receive additional guidance from the CWGB team, and gain valuable professional development like Communication with SYB’s Maddie Little and financial aid help with SYB’s Betsy Behrend. Our apprentices never cease to impress us with their willingness to mentor and encourage each other. We are excited to hear all the ways they are contributing to their teams in the coming year! #modernyouthapprenticeship #careerwisegreaterbuffalo #earnandlearn
