Sargent recently completed a stream crossing project for the Appalachian Mountain Club, with Dirigo Engineering as the design engineer. Located near the Katahdin Iron Works Road, the project enhances road access for future logging and outdoor recreational activities while prioritizing environmental stewardship. A key part of the project involved working with the Atlantic Salmon Federation to use electrofishing in each stream before construction began, ensuring no fish populations were present. The work included installing nine 24-foot concrete box culverts and four steel bridges with concrete decks spanning up to 40 feet. The craftsmanship of Sargent welders was essential, as they fabricated the steel girders and hardware for the bridge crossings. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club and Dirigo Engineering as further state improvements unfold. This project was a Win in the Field thanks to the leadership of Superintendent Jeshua Dearborn, Foreman Frankie Colbry, alongside the hard work of Operator/Laborer Travis McEwen, Loader Operator Troy Cook, Excavator Operator Kyle Bonenfant, truck driver Brian Cote, and hired truck Carey Trucking. #earthwork #construction #dirtwork #fabrication #sargent
