Sinclair Cares: Hurricane Relief Initiative Raises Nearly $1.3 Million to Support Those Affected by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton Earlier this month, Sinclair Inc. launched Sinclair Cares: Hurricane Relief, a fundraising partnership with The Salvation Army to assist with humanitarian relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Commissioner Kenneth Hodder presented Berkely Bryant, 2025 Miss Volunteer America, with a challenge coin to recognize all the incredible volunteer work she has done. The challenge coin tradition started in the military as a way to honor those who met the highest expectations of their respective unit. It served as a token that they could look back on as a sign that their leader acknowledges and appreciates their hard work. Ministry doesn’t always happen behind a pulpit. For Randy, it happens from a local spot in Marshall, NC. Randy began his journey in 1972 as a Salvation Army cadet, planning to dedicate his life to ministry and service, but God had a different plan. Instead of the traditional path, Randy chose to live out his mission of service from a local dive bar, "T-Birds", which he transformed into a family-friendly gathering spot. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Randy transformed T-Birds into a beacon of hope for his community. He welcomed Salvation Army volunteers there with open arms, offering them this spot to distribute hot meals to Helene survivors in the area.
