In early May, Kelsey Conway + Brian Meissner (ECI) were invited to testify in a House Finance Committee Hearing, in Juneau. The duo testified in shared support of a house bill that would establish a professional registration for commercial Interior Design in Alaska. SALT has played an active role advocating for this bill, and others like it over the last six years. While this bill ultimately did not advance before the close of the Alaska State Legislative Session on May 15, SALT was honored to have participated in the public process, alongside our supportive colleagues like ECI!

Hannah Toomey is working with DOWL and State of Alaska DOTPF on the Master Plan Update for the Wiley Post-Will Rogers Memorial Airport (BRW)! Hannah took her second trip to the “top of the world” to Utqiagvik in May to host a public meeting for the airport, where she has been working with the community and other stakeholders to get feedback and engagement on the 20-year plan for the airport updates, such as MUCH needed new Alaska Airlines terminal. Utqiagvik’s airport is the connection for much of the North Slope Borough and provides delivery and distribution of goods and supplies (check out the cost of a gallon of milk up there!😦), access to family beyond Utqiagvik, health care, and more. Over the last few years, SALT has been working with Nvision Architecture to develop the interiors and furniture procurement package for the Inlet View Elementary replacement school in downtown Anchorage. Last week, Kelsi Swank and Megan Lierman attended the groundbreaking celebration that was also attended by the Anchorage School District board members, municipality assembly members and some very excited Inlet View students! The school bond passed in April, which provided the funding for this project, and Cornerstone General Contractors has started the ground work...stay tuned for more photos as construction progresses!
