A Note From Jim Jones: Over the past few months I have been contemplating the future of Sales Enablement. It's likely, if you are in this space, you have seen similar musings by a number of folks. My initial sense, and maybe it's because of where I have been, is that Enablement has been too focused on: 1. Content-Findability: essentially creating stores of content based on certain taxonomies (sales stages, verticals, etc.) 2. Product-Focused Training: I disagree when I hear people say our sellers don't need to be product experts. The challenge is that very few Enablement people are product SME's. So where does that leave Enablement? I think 2024 will see an existential shift in what Enablement means and does. Toss in a dash of economic uncertainty, world altering technologies like generative AI and the disruption will continue well into 2024. I have had some great conversations with companies that are wrestling with these ideas.
