Day two of MITM kicked off with a brief welcome from our COO, Dr. Jennifer MacDonald, followed by a morning greeting from Dean Kamen and a special guest appearance by Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais. Mayor Ruais welcomed our participants, stating, “Manchester is here for you and stands ready to support this new industry.” The morning sessions brought together professionals from across the nation to address critical issues in cardiac, kidney, and diabetes care. Kamen emphasized the urgent need for innovations in chronic care, stressing that the status quo is unacceptable. Passionate patient perspectives were represented throughout the day. Guest speaker Vanessa Underwood delivered a moving recollection of her journey navigating three kidney transplants and two bouts of cancer as part of the Advancing Kidney Health panel. ARMI’s Chief Strategy Officer, Stefany Shaheen, followed as moderator of The Mission to Cure and Treat T1D through Research and Innovation panel, sharing her experience as a parent caring for a child with T1D. These patient perspectives and experiences highlight the importance of ARMI’s work and the exciting growth and success of ReGen Valley that is rising on the horizon. In addition to these moving and informative discussions on innovation in biofabrication, participants have numerous opportunities throughout the three-day event to interact with MITM exhibitors and sponsors, industry peers, government representatives, and members of the ARMI | BioFabUSA team.
