Our Executive Director, Mona Shah; President, Keerthi Sugumaran; and VP of Advocacy, Akanksha Gupta joined many other SABA members to celebrate Diwali at the The White House with President Biden, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, and others. Executive Director, Mona Shah, remarked: "I am deeply honored to have been invited on behalf of SABA North America to join the Diwali celebration at the White House. This occasion holds immense significance as it represents a blend of cultures and traditions, highlighting the universal themes of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Celebrating Diwali at the White House emphasizes the importance of acknowledging and embracing the rich cultural diversity that strengthens our nation. It is a profound reminder of the unity we share in our collective journeys towards peace, prosperity, and understanding." President, Keerthi Sugumaran, remarked: "It was an honor to participate in the White House Diwali celebration. President Biden recognized the many accomplishments of the South Asian community, and shared his appreciation for our growing voice and civic engagement. It was truly an inspiring evening, with every detail carefully planned to capture the spirit of Diwali-the triumph of light over darkness."
