The number of updates and changes with Google related to core search updates and AI are numerous, to say the least. Unfortunately, it has hit certain sites particularly hard in the past 6 months. The #seo #affiliatemarketing #performancemarketing and #growth community is discussing it and taking action as we speak. Issue #52 of the RBL Flywheel newsletter is live, and it aims to make sense of all the Google updates and share some recommendations through the lens of high-quality affiliate marketing. While the investigation and learning are still in progress, we found that a good subset of content sites are down 8.9%. It is wild that Kevin Indig came to the exact same 8.9% decline in his analysis of the potential impact of AIO (AI Overviews) in Google! While this is not the end of the world, and we are still seeing great performance across our portfolio of clients, it is a concerning trend and an important reminder to embrace authentic influencer creator and affiliate voices, diversify your partner marketing portfolio, and work with world-class data-driven teams to unlock growth via a balanced approach to partner marketing.
