About us
Join us for lunch! We meet Thursdays (with the exception of the last Thursday of each month) at Roger Brown's Restaurant and Sports Bar, 316 High Street, Portsmouth from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Since 1918, the Rotary Club of Portsmouth, VA has helped the citizens of Portsmouth and Hampton Roads build better communities through productive fellowship and charitable endeavors. Today, our Club is comprised of 45 members who have experience working in a variety of sectors throughout Hampton Roads. This diversity in skills and networks, along with an intense commitment to community, allows our Club to successfully fund projects and initiatives that create true impact in Portsmouth and the surrounding Hampton Roads communities.

Polio remains active in just two countries—Afghanistan and Pakistan—and Rotary International is working tirelessly to eliminate the virus for good. To support this mission, we’ll be raising additional funds to contribute to the cause. In addition to our speaker program next week, we’ll host a Purple Pinkie fundraiser, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Rotary’s polio eradication efforts. What’s the meaning behind the purple pinkie? It’s a symbol of immunization. When children receive the polio vaccine, Rotarians mark their pinkie fingers with a purple dye to ensure they don’t receive a double dose. In solidarity with this important effort, we’ll be dyeing our pinkies purple to raise awareness and show our commitment to eradicating polio once and for all. Join us in this crucial fight to #EndPolioNow and make a lasting impact on the lives of children around the world: https://lnkd.in/eXdk9Dvy
