By May 2025, Epic will integrate AI-powered agents into its MyChart patient portal to assist with personalized healthcare guidance, such as reminders, surgery preparation, and condition management. The system will also connect with medical devices like heart monitors and glucose sensors for real-time health insights. Additionally, Epic is enhancing payer-provider connectivity, streamlining processes like insurance eligibility checks and prior authorizations. This aims to reduce denials and improve communication across healthcare entities. Epic is also pushing AI in various areas, including procedure selection and predictive analytics, with over 100 AI-driven projects in development. Epic is committed to the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) for nationwide health information exchange, with plans to have all health systems on board by the end of 2024.
