Today, on #WorldMentalHealthDay, we're shining a light on the crucial need for mental health awareness, especially for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). While society emphasizes healthy mental health practices, many with I/DD face unique challenges that often go unrecognized or inadequately addressed. Through the work of programs like Denver START, we are seeing changes in the ways that mental health is prioritized and addressed for individuals with I/DD through education, awareness, and improved mental health care. The RMHS team always enjoys connecting with the community! We recently attended the Dahlia Health Fair, Walk With Autism (Autism Society of Colorado), the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk (Rocky Mountain Down Syndrome Association), and Sensory Dayz. Take a look at a few highlights from these events!

A powerful area of our work at RMHS is seeing the impact of the Denver Mill Levy Program, which connects Denver residents with I/DD and their families with items, supports, and services that are right for them. Here are a few examples of how the Denver Mill Levy Program has connected people to supports and resources such as alternative medical treatments, physical therapy, and recreational activities.
