What a way to wrap up the summer! August was an amazing month full of engaging events and team spirit! Beginning with National Coloring Book Day, which brought out everyone’s inner artist to our Back to School Drive, which helped local students gear up for success. The Crosstown Classic had us showing team spirit, and our shredding event cleared out old paperwork. Bingo was played, life hacks were swapped, there was fun in the sun, and we concluded with Trail Mix Day. Thanks to all our amazing team members for making this month a hit! Rivers Casino had the pleasure of hosting a community breakfast in our newly opened restaurant, at RC Supply Co. This event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate partnerships and guide our community partners through the grant application process and explore ways to enhance our collective impact. The focus was on Navigating the Path to Rivers Gives Foundation Grants. A heartfelt thank you to all the community and workforce partners who joined us. Your participation and engagement were crucial to the success of this event. Together, we are making strides toward greater community impact and support. Please join us in congratulating Joyce Celio on her promotion to Pit Manager. Joyce brings 14 years of gaming experience and joined our table games team in 2014. She holds a degree in Business Administration which she acquired back home in the Philippines. Joyce is excited to get started in her new position and continue to make a difference.  She has been a long time champion for excellent guest service and team member engagement. Her leadership style is to listen carefully and act accordingly. In her own words: "Kindness goes a long way." Tom first joined Rivers Casino Des Plaines in 2021 as a Slot Technician and transitioned into the Lead Slot Technician role in 2023. With over 30 years of service in the military, Tom has been able to provide strong leadership to the team while also developing them in their role. In his free time, Tom enjoys spending time with friends and family, particularly attending concerts and movies. Please join us in congratulating Raymond Priester in his new role as Slot Technician Shift Manager. Ray helped open Rivers Casino Des Plaines in 2011 as a Slot Technician and working his way up to the Lead Slot Technician role in 2023. With an Associate’s degree in Electronics from DeVry University, he has been instrumental in training many of our technicians. Outside of work, Ray is a devoted Six Flags Great America enthusiast, enjoying riding the exhilarating roller coasters and the spooky attractions during their Fright Fest. He also cherishes spending time with his puppy, Shadow, taking leisurely strolls together. Please join us in congratulating Kim Abella in her new role as Table Games Pit Manager. Kim started her gaming career in 2011 as a dealer with Rivers Casino. She was promoted to Table Games Supervisor and had been in the role for 6 years. Kim states her approach is to be honest and understanding. In her own words, "I want everyone that comes to the casino to have a good time including guests and team members." Kim is excited about her new position and we look forward to her contributions.
