#KelRide, our research project on integrating mixed fleets of autonomous and conventional vehicles in public transit was finished in June, and our consortium partner EasyMile just shared this great video about the project. I'm super excited to have been Via's project lead for this project, bringing it from grant proposal to live service and running the autonomous service in #Kelheim as part of the #KEXI on-demand service for almost 2 years. As part of this project, we integrated the service fully into public transit and offered conventional, autonomous and intermodal journey options connecting to the regional network, all in one app. Together with P3 autonomous mobility, Technische Universität Berlin and TÜV Rheinland Group, as well as Landkreis Kelheim and EasyMile, and funded by Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr, we've shown what's possible with today's technology and the benefits autonomous transport will bring to public transit in Germany and globally. I am incredibly excited that this public transit transformation is LIVE! over a year ago, the City of Sioux Falls began considering operators tasked with reimagining our public transit system. At the time, Via felt a little risky - this company is run by innovators, risk takers; read: cheese movers. Just nine months into their operations, Sioux Falls residents now have transit services citywide! I am proud of our City leadership for taking a "risk" and grateful to the Via team for delivering on their promises and expanding access for our residents!
