📈New data shows that the majority of rides from Via-powered DuranGO! in Colorado is helping people get to affordable housing and workforce development opportunities — which is exactly the goal that was intended when it launched about 1 year ago. It's also the first time Durango Transit has hit more than 51,000 transit rides since 2014 — a testament to how Via's solutions can help transit networks regain momentum. We're excited to introduce Journey Brandon, one of our Parking & Transportation student workers, starring in our latest self-driving shuttle commercial! At The University of Texas at Arlington, students can wake up, call a self-driving taxi, and as they're getting ready, the vehicle is already on its way. By the time they step outside, it’s there to take them to class—futuristic convenience at its best. Thanks to May Mobility, Via, the City of Arlington, and our Engineering researchers, we’re leading the future of public autonomous transportation with the nation's longest-running self-driving shuttle program. And Journey? She’s not only starring in commercials—she’s preparing to launch her professional career in art soon. Here’s to the future of mobility and the Mavericks who make it happen! #MavUp #InnovationInMotion #AutonomousTransit #UTAMavericks #MayMobility #Via #Arlington #SelfDrivingShuttle #EngineeringInnovation #StudentSuccess
🎒 Back-to-school season is here at last! As students return to campus this fall at UT Arlington and the University of Michigan, our AVs are ready to make their journeys safer, easier and more fun. We're proud to be a part of these campus communities, helping students get where they need to go with seamless on-demand service. Here's to a successful school year ahead! 🍎

#KelRide, our research project on integrating mixed fleets of autonomous and conventional vehicles in public transit was finished in June, and our consortium partner EasyMile just shared this great video about the project. I'm super excited to have been Via's project lead for this project, bringing it from grant proposal to live service and running the autonomous service in #Kelheim as part of the #KEXI on-demand service for almost 2 years. As part of this project, we integrated the service fully into public transit and offered conventional, autonomous and intermodal journey options connecting to the regional network, all in one app. Together with P3 autonomous mobility, Technische Universität Berlin and TÜV Rheinland Group, as well as Landkreis Kelheim and EasyMile, and funded by Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr, we've shown what's possible with today's technology and the benefits autonomous transport will bring to public transit in Germany and globally. And also - if you're at InnoTrans, come see Eva Fraedrich, Tobias Boldizsar, Björn van Noord and me at the Via booth in the Mobility+ hall 7.1C!
As KelRide concludes, we are proud to share key takeaways from more than 3 years of our #DriverlessTechnology powering the service. The innovative public transport initiative in the Kelheim district in Bavaria, Germany, integrated autonomous and conventional vehicles into a seamless and efficient transport system. It represents the largest deployment of EasyMile's #AutonomousDriving software in its history and the most extensive continuous coverage of highly automated traffic in public spaces across Europe. Funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport with 15.6 million euros there are six project partners: EasyMile as consortium leader, the district of Kelheim, the Technical University of Berlin, TÜV Rheinland Group, Via and the P3. KelRide focused on dynamic routing and the efficient integration of autonomous vehicles into the broader public transport network, moving beyond the constraints of fixed lines to offer improved service flexibility. Key learnings: 🧑🔧️ Technical: Development of competencies in the deployment of a large road network rather than single trajectories. 📈 Market penetration: Operation of a mixed fleet together with conventional vehicles cover wide range of use cases is of benefit. 🌍 Definition of further going requirements on autonomous vehicle Operational Design Domains (ODD)’s in order to further expand service. 🚌 Platform reliability and availability key for market penetration. These takeaways will continue to influence the broader autonomous mobility industry. The insights gained, particularly in terms of user acceptance, traffic optimization, and technology reliability, will be invaluable as we move forward. KelRide has proven that autonomous shuttles can be a crucial component of future transportation systems.

I am incredibly excited that this public transit transformation is LIVE! over a year ago, the City of Sioux Falls began considering operators tasked with reimagining our public transit system. At the time, Via felt a little risky - this company is run by innovators, risk takers; read: cheese movers. Just nine months into their operations, Sioux Falls residents now have transit services citywide! I am proud of our City leadership for taking a "risk" and grateful to the Via team for delivering on their promises and expanding access for our residents!
