As the world marks 80 years since the liberation of Nazi death camp Auschwitz, Holocaust survivors voice their fears over the rise of antisemitism and urge people to stand up against it. More than 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, perished in gas chambers or from starvation, cold and disease at Auschwitz, where most had been brought in freight wagons, packed like livestock. Remembrance of crimes committed in the name of Nazi notions of racial superiority has become an acutely political issue in recent years with the rise of far-right parties across Europe. #Reuters #Holocaust #Auschwitz #commemoration #Auschwitz

Target is the latest company to scrap its diversity, equity and inclusion efforts after U.S. President Donald Trump issued sweeping executive order directing federal agencies to terminate DEI programs, encouraging private companies to do the same. The Minneapolis-based retailer's announcement also comes after Walmart, Amazon and Meta walked back their DEI policies. Many companies adopted policies designed to boost the recruitment, hiring and promotion of minority workers following the police killings of George Floyd and other Black Americans in 2020. Tesla has joined BMW and Chinese automakers in filing a complaint at the European Court of Justice against EU tariffs on electric vehicles (EVs) from China. Tesla and the others produce in China and export EVs to the EU. In the EU investigation into alleged unfair subsidies, Tesla escaped with its own special tariff of 7.8%, lower than any of its competitors. Tesla is now seeking this rate - on top of the EU's standard 10% car import duty - even lower. The legal challenge of course creates a new front of conflict between Brussels and Tesla CEO and Trump ally Elon Musk. Earlier this month, the EU stepped up its investigation into Musk's social media platform X over content moderation. https://lnkd.in/e_pNQJND
