Having an opportunity to connect with our Renton community small business owners was an energizing experience. The goal of reaching out to and canvassing the Renton Business community was to share the Districts upcoming Showcase of Careers event with them to also spread to our local community. I placed posters of the event in the window, on tables, in the hands of the business owners, and on thecounters of their local small businesses. They opened the doors to me. I can tell how supportive they are of the Renton School District, it’s family, and community. I even met the owner of a small business that volunteered at one of our District middle schools, started their school store, and was active in the PTA. Thank you to all those who greeted me, opened up their spaces for me to share information with the local community, and were just so kind.
