  • Nutrition Tip Tuesday Pumpkin spice might be the flavor of Fall, but don’t forget about the real star: actual pumpkins! 🎃 They’re not just for carving—they’re packed with vitamins and fiber, making them a diabetes-friendly addition to your meals. Try adding some roasted pumpkin to your smoothies, salads or soups this week. Pumpkin smoothies couldn’t be easier: just combine in a blender your milk of choice, pumpkin puree/canned pumpkin, plain yogurt, vanilla extract, your favorite sugar alternative, and pumpkin pie spice. Blend until smooth and enjoy. • **Winning Wednesday: Mastering Your Mindset with Mindfulness** Success in managing diabetes starts in the mind. 🧠 Mindfulness helps you stay present and focused on what really matters—like making choices that support your physical as well as your mental health. By being aware of your thoughts and emotions, you can catch yourself before stress or frustration leads to unhealthy habits. Today, commit to checking in with yourself. Notice how you’re feeling and gently steer your thoughts toward positivity and empowerment. Here’s a quick breath exercise you can do when you begin to feel stressed: Breathe in through your nose for a count of 4. Hold your breath for a count of 4 . Exhale through your mouth for a count of 4. Remain empty of breath for a count of 4. This is called the Box Exercise and you can repeat it as many times as needed until you feel more calm once again. Remember, the journey to better health is made up of small, mindful decisions each day. What will you choose today? **Unlock the Secrets to Better Blood Sugar Control—Get My Newsletter! • **𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗽 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆: 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹** When it comes to managing blood sugar, what you eat is only part of the equation. HOW you eat is just as important. 🥗 Mindful eating means slowing down and truly savoring each bite. It’s about listening to your body’s hunger cues and recognizing when you’re full. This practice helps you make better food choices and avoid overeating, both of which are crucial for keeping your blood sugar levels in check. Try this: At your next meal, take a moment to breathe deeply, appreciate the food in front of you, and eat without distractions. Another tip to eat slowly is to put your fork down on your plate between each bite. Notice how these simple shifts make a difference. Let mindfulness guide your meals, and watch how it transforms your diabetes management. . **Be the First to Know! • 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 I had dental surgery last week, and when you have surgery, the procedure itself and the effects of anesthesia put stress on the body that may result in elevated blood sugar levels, making it more difficult to balance those levels. After learning that blood sugar levels may be affected anywhere from 9-21 days after surgery, I realized that paying special attention to mindfulness will be especially helpful. It may not prevent me from obsessing over my numbers, but being especially mindful is what I need. Here’s how to put the power of mindfulness to work for balanced blood sugar and increased fitness… 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧: Recognize that mindfulness simply means PAYING ATTENTION… 🥑 to what you eat 🚶 to how active you are 😴 to how much sleep you get 🤗 to the quality of your relationships 🧘 to how you spend your time, energy, and thoughts 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡: Being intentional about your choices. This is so important for your diabetes journey because when you start paying attention, it opens up the possibility for lasting change and mind-blowing results. Not only do you immediately see (and feel) which actions move you forward… but also which actions hold you back. This is a powerful combo! What’s ONE area you can start paying more attention to today? Equip yourself with the best food choices. Download your free 'Yes, Please -- No, Thank you Food List' today!
