  • What is Culture, Really? And What Does It Say About Your Leadership? 🌱 Too often, we think of culture as something unique to a group—a set of traditions and identities. But in the workplace, culture is what we create—intentionally or unintentionally. It’s shaped by what we pay attention to, what we ignore, what we reward, and what we accept as norms. 🌟 Many leaders feel resigned to the culture they inherit, but the truth is, leaders have the power to create, reinforce, or even dismantle workplace culture. Imagine a new leader emphasizing innovation over stagnation—over time, they build processes that shift the environment to one of growth, risk-taking, and solutions. Culture is more than just identity; it's the knowledge, beliefs, customs, and habits we form in our teams and organizations. It’s about the agreements we make to understand how to get along and thrive together. So, what does your workplace culture say about your leadership style? And what are the unwritten rules that shape your team's behavior? 💡 Competence is about doing something well. Cultural competence is about intentionally creating an environment where everyone understands and values the way the group operates at work and can do their best. ✨ Ask yourself: Are you hiring people who believe in the culture you want, or living with the one you’ve been given? ➡️Constantly frustrated by a revolving door of employees? Discover how to create a work environment that attracts and retains high-performing individuals. Watch my FREE masterclass for actionable steps. • Leadership training often targets new managers—but what about middle managers, those crucial 2-3 levels below senior executives? They're the ones tasked with translating high-level strategy into daily operations, yet they often face an invisible struggle: prioritizing demands effectively. A few years ago, I worked with retail managers who faced an additional 3+ hours of work each week just from emails and uncoordinated campaigns sent by corporate HQ. One senior executive assumed the manager was struggling with time management. But after just an hour of conversation, the real issue emerged: prioritization and the confidence to push back or renegotiate demands that were impacting his team's productivity. Middle managers need more than time management skills—they need the tools and confidence to discern what's critical, delegate effectively, and say 'no' when necessary. Without these skills, they end up overwhelmed, unable to lead their teams efficiently. To free up your time and focus on strategic leadership, aim to build a self-managed team. A team that takes ownership, solves problems independently, and isn't waiting on you for every decision. This is the real key to staying above the operational weeds and being an effective middle manager. How do you empower your team to be more self-managed? It might just be the game-changer that lets you lead, rather than simply react. What if 15 minutes could give you 3 hours back on your calendar? What if your leadership team was able to prioritize and coordinate initiatives so they didn’t cause work blockages and disgruntled employees? Check out my free 15-minute masterclass to learn how you can increase the leadership impact of your management team using a few proven techniques. https://lnkd.in/en7FtnzV or sign up for my bi-weekly (kinda) newsletter. #LeadershipDevelopment #MiddleManagers #Prioritization #EffectiveDelegation #RetailLeadership #SelfManagedTeams #StrategicLeadership #LeadershipCoaching
