Stay Cyber Safe While Traveling with Mobile Devices Do you know about these typical cyber incidents when traveling? Hotel Wi-Fi Hacks: Cybercriminals have been known to exploit hotel Wi-Fi networks to gain access to personal information. Airport Charging Stations: "Juice jacking" is a method where public charging stations are used to transfer malware onto your device. Here are some tips to keep you secure on the go: 👉 Update Software Regularly: Ensure your device's operating system and apps are up-to-date to protect against vulnerabilities. 👉 Use Strong Passwords and 2FA: Use unique, complex passwords and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for an added layer of security. 👉 Avoid Public Wi-Fi: Use a VPN or your personal mobile hotspot if you must connect to public networks, and never conduct sensitive transactions over unprotected connections. 👉 Be Cautious with Bluetooth: Turn off Bluetooth when not in use to prevent unauthorized access. 👉 Backup Your Data: Regularly backup your devices to a secure location to minimize data loss in case of theft or malware attacks. 👉 Monitor Devices Closely: Always keep your devices in sight and use tracking apps to locate them if lost or stolen. Let's create a community of informed travelers who prioritize cybersecurity. What other recommendations do you have to stay cyber safe while traveling? It's no surprise that most people rely on VPNs when traveling to access their company's internal systems. VPNs have long been an easy and convenient way to connect remotely. However, there are a few critical points to keep in mind: ⭐ 1. SPEED: VPNs can sometimes slow down your internet connection due to the encryption process and the distance to the VPN server. This can affect productivity, especially when dealing with large files or high-bandwidth applications. ⭐ 2. ACCESSIBILITY: Some hotels, public WiFis, and even certain countries block VPN traffic. This can leave travelers unable to access important company resources when they need them most. ⭐ 3. SECURITY (2FA): Always ensure that Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enabled. This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification, which greatly reduces the risk of unauthorized access even if your VPN credentials are compromised. There are multiple ways to connect to your systems, and it's crucial to understand which remote connection method is best suited for each workload. This ensures a convenient, reliable, and secure access to your resources. 👉 If VPN slows your productivity down, let us know below in the comments - we can help you stay secure and connected, no matter where you are! We have donated 2 cars to Vehicles for Change! Join RTS in helping this outstanding non-profit. Learn more how you can help: https://lnkd.in/eH6GKdM8 Our donation comes at a crucial time for VFC, which has seen a decrease in donations due to the pandemic. “Pre-COVID, we received around 200 vehicle donations monthly. Now, that number has fallen to 60-80,” says Lori Connolly. “These vehicles are lifelines for families in need, enabling access to jobs, educational opportunities, and better food.” #smallbusiness, #nonprofit, #RTS, #managedIT Krister Dunn, Kyle Casey, Lenny Giller, Michael Yudovin, Matt S., John Dinkel

Supporting business growth through technology as a leading Managed IT Services. President @ RTS. reliabletechnology.co
Are your business values a collection of words that are meaningless? Your values can set you apart from competition, greatly impact your culture and employee morale, which in turn also affects your operation. So, you should select strong value statements and stick to them. But how? This is the question we were asking ourselves 4 years ago too, then we came across a Harvard Business Review article, called Make Your Values Mean Something thanks to Steve Preda. This article inspired me to take the following steps: It helped me realize that RTS’ core values were never articulated to anyone, rather they were in my head only on how to treat employees and customers – I lived by them, hired people and conducted business accordingly. However, that was not helpful to the rest of the company. So, to formalize our core values we conducted an exercise. We looked at the attributes of our best employees, which completed the value set I’ve deemed important. Then we documented our values and since have continued to communicate them throughout the company. To date, our culture has improved, which is also positively reflected in our customer services because we live our core values and weave it into everything. Does your company or team live your core values? Share your thoughts. #RTS, #smallbusiness, #businessculture
