  • Employee Story Spotlight: On April 6, 2019, Lindsey faced the unimaginable when she witnessed her husband suffer a lethal overdose. For several minutes, he was medically dead—without a pulse or oxygen. Fortunately, they were in a hospital room at the time, and the doctors and nurses were able to revive him. At that moment, Lindsey realized how unprepared she was; despite knowing her husband was struggling with addiction, she had no Narcan on hand and lacked the knowledge of how or when to use it. This experience ignited a profound commitment in her to overdose awareness, prevention, and education, as she recognized that she had failed to recognize an overdose happening right before her eyes. Today, Lindsey carries Narcan with her everywhere, ensuring she is always prepared to save a life if needed. She expresses gratitude that her husband is not only an overdose survivor but also has over five years of sobriety. Their journey through recovery has transformed their lives, strengthening their bond as a family. Lindsey and her husband both work at Recovery Centers of America, where they are passionate about sharing the hope that recovery and his second chance at life have given them.

  • Professionals in Recovery Spotlight: Rebecca, an employee at Recovery Centers of America and Indianapolis, has been in recovery for over 2 years. The second time around in recovery feels different for Rebecca. She’s come to realize it’s not just the substance that’s the issue—it’s the battle within. She understands now that addiction is a disease that can’t be cured, but can be managed with the help of something greater than herself. Acceptance, a shift in perspective, and a willingness to be humble and vulnerable have brought her to where she is today. Rebecca has lost many people along the way, and she lives each day for those who didn’t make it. Her mission is to give back what was given to her so freely: love and compassion, the very things everyone deserves, no matter what choices they’ve made.
