'Good to Great,' a true classic. I found myself in a conversation recently where the person was referencing 'Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap and Others Don't.' I stood there with a blank stare because I was confused how and why I have not read this book. Pulling away from the meeting I downloaded the book and zoomed through over the next 2 weeks. The learnings on people, leadership, process and action all supported with multi-year studies have brought incredible learnings and perspective. Hiring for sales is hard. Especially for those who haven't sold or interviewed for these roles before. Take this 1 piece of advice... "Don't confuse confidence for competent." While there are so many sales professionals that are both confident and competent there are just as many that present as confident, and the non-trained eye believes they know what they are doing.
