About us

Spill is a next generation social platform that puts culture first. At its best, social media can bring you humor, insight and connection to some amazing people. We’re building Spill to make it easier, safer, and more rewarding to get to that experience, as well as introducing new ways to connect through real time conversation. Initially, you will be able to: Create, comment, amplify or share a random thought, called a “Spill,” with the public Host in-app chat events with your friends both virtually and IRL Follow the cultural commentary on things that are happening in the world right now Oh, and you automatically get paid if a Spill of yours goes viral and we monetize against it 🤑 Ultimately, our goal is to make Spill the de facto platform to discover and discuss culture worldwide.

“In a digital world where marginalized groups, especially Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA folks, rarely feel prioritized, Spill stands out,” Washington said in a statement. “I’m proud to be part of this community as both a user and an investor.” Thanks TechCrunch for the feature and we’re excited to continue to build alongside the community! https://lnkd.in/dWufZCCR

This time last year, SPILL first went📈 - yet another powerful proof that it’s community > everything. One of the best pieces of advice I received at the time was to, against conventional wisdom, go talk to people who were actually using SPILL on an individual basis to get feedback. While certainly daunting at first (who would care enough to talk? how do you schedule the convos? what do I wear, etc etc), I have been able to speak with over 150 members 1 on 1 in past three months alone. To hear directly about what was working, what was terrible and, most importantly, what this platform already means to a great many people was invaluable (a few clips from those convos are included in the video below). More than anything, these conversations clarified that one of SPILL ‘s most enduring value props is being a place where underserved communities can make connections with each other. I’d be lying if I said that was our original intent (we dont even have DMs yet), but hearing how many offline friendships, collabs, linkups and even a marriage started because of SPILL makes it clear that the need for the original promise of “social” is more vital than ever. We are already experimenting with more feature sets to make finding and connecting with your people even easier on SPILL (new nav, search, spades, etc). Most critically, we are getting better an incorporating user requested features into every new release. And I will continue doing those 1 on 1s (email [email protected] if you want to get down). So congrats to the SPILL community on your 1st Spilliversary - thank you for rocking with us, excited for what Season 2 will bring ☕️

I’ve spent many years reading Fast Company and the hallowed Most Innovative Company’s list, hunting for inspiration and collaboration opportunities. Truly wild that, just a year into our journey, SPILL has been included as one of the most Innovative Social Platforms this year (https://lnkd.in/gGGSKmuJ). We are *truly* just getting started but it is encouraging to see that our vision for a safer, more rewarding and more enjoyable way for culture driving communities to connect is already resonating. Cheers to our incredible team, our hundreds of thousands of members and our investors/advisors for the countless unseen efforts that make moments like this possible. Now back to work ☕️💪🏽

Prioritizing wellness at work is essential—especially for Black professionals. We’re faced with a barrage of unique challenges and unsurprisingly, our needs are swept aside, leaving us to navigate toxic environments that turn a blind eye to our well-being. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we've partnered with SPILL for a much needed Tea Party titled "Healing While Black: Prioritizing Wellness at Work.” Join us on May 15 at 7:30 PM CST as we delve into this crucial conversation exclusively on the SPILL app. We’re discussing the state of the workplace that doesn’t prioritize safety, which leads to an extreme case of burnout. You'll also hear from mental health experts on how to identify those red flags and learn effective solutions to minimize stress. Protecting your peace should always be a priority, so don’t let that job stress you out. Download the SPILL app (available on Apple and Android devices) and RSVP today. #HealingWhileBlack #BlackWellness #MentalHealthAtWork #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #WorkplaceWellness #InclusionMatters Image source: Getty Images/Wired
