It was a full house at the fireside chat on environment and economy last night, hosted by E2, Clean Energy Leadership Institute, Baumhart Center for Social Enterprise and Responsibility, Loyola University Chicago Illinois Green Alliance, Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, and Evergreen Climate Innovations. Congressman Mike Quigley and author Bob Keefe kicked off the evening with a discussion on the future of the IRA and the history of the Waxman-Markey bill, highlighting the ongoing work of more than a decade to address climate change. A panel discussion featuring Michelle Carr Samir Mayekar, Utopia Hill and Karen Weigert showcased the success of policy changes in driving success in the climate industry. From on-shoring work at NanoGraf Corporation to launching 16-week paid training programs Reactivate (with a 100% graduation rate!) the message was clear: environmental policy can significantly benefit industry, and we need to increase policy awareness. The event was a testament to the resurgence of in-person networking in Chicago's climate community.
