We're proud to announce our new three-year, two-phase contract with DARPA to develop ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors (UWBGS) using diamond and aluminum nitride technology. "This is a significant step forward that will once again revolutionize semiconductor technology," said Colin Whelan, president of Advanced Technology at Raytheon. These groundbreaking materials promise enhanced power delivery and thermal management for sensors and electronics. UWBGS will enable the creation of ultra-compact, high-power RF switches, limiters, and amplifiers, operating effectively in extreme environments. 📰 #NEWS: Raytheon has delivered the first AN/TPY-2 missile defense radar for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is the first AN/TPY-2 radar with a complete Gallium Nitride (GaN) populated array in the system. The GaN technology is a key enabler in allowing the AN/TPY-2 radar to support the hypersonic mission and provides up to two times the sensitivity to increase range as well as expand surveillance capacity. “The latest AN/TPY-2 radar is now in a different class. With the help of funding from both the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the U.S. government, Raytheon made more than 50 enhancements to the radar including the introduction of GaN technology,” said Paul Ferraro, President of Air & Space Defense Systems for Raytheon. “These upgrades will help Saudi Arabia to better defend itself from missile threats and will additionally benefit the entire fleet with enhanced sensing capability.” Details: https://rtxcorp.co/4esH3Qe
