award-winning strategist and author designing policies, narratives and movements so humans can just be
It is not “business as usual” for our Southern communities and neighbors surviving Hurricane Helene. We often talk about oppression in the social areas of criminal justice education, housing and voting rights—and even labor. But a more diverse community has been amplifying the need to focus on environmental injustice for decades—tying climate change to actual decisions from key actors, including corporations and capitalist practices that target vulnerable communities, polluting them off the strength of financial and technological gains. We only get one Earth. And we need to shift how we live in it and how we respond to the consequences of our actions to nature. I’m grateful to movement principles which respond directly to the needs of the People, like mutual aid. Mutual aid are systems that may not have your typical 501c3 status or a hierarchical board, because that’s not their focus. Our cooperation, joy, safety and solidarity is the goal. We support each other when we can, understanding that tomorrow, I may be the one in crisis. So it’s our turn to support those enduring almost irreversible climate conditions. Here are some mutual aid spaces on the ground doing the work. And thank you New Disabled South for sharing these reputable community-led leaders. Please feel free to share more in the comments below.

In today's business environment, where executives question the value of DEI, it's essential to recognize the significant benefits of fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace culture. When DEI values are embedded within an organization, three key things happen: 1.) Cross-Cultural Innovation Is Sparked. Diverse teams bring together various perspectives, leading to fresh ideas and innovative solutions. Individuals from different cultural backgrounds collaborate and draw on varied experiences and insights. 2.) Stronger Communities Are Built (Between Colleagues and Constituents). A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion fosters a sense of belonging and mutual respect among employees and stakeholders. This strengthens relationships, creating a more cohesive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued. 3.) Problem-Solving Enhances, Becoming More Nuanced and Socially Aware. Inclusive workplaces encourage more thoughtful and well-rounded approaches to problem-solving. By considering diverse perspectives, teams can develop more comprehensive and socially conscious solutions. These benefits go beyond simple metrics—they shape a future-ready organization capable of navigating complex challenges and remaining competitive in a rapidly evolving marketplace. How would you expand this list of DEI's business advantages? #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #DEI #FutureReady #FutureOfWork
