We often talk about the effectiveness of our unique and wonderful group coaching. Don't take our word for it... (Yes, it's anonymous. We never share confidential information about coaching sessions, even when someone's complimenting us!) "Quick email to offer up praise for the group sessions. Just off a call with a leader who navigated a safety situation this morning where he had to demonstrate effective leadership. He cited how he "led with questions to hear from my team their perspectives" and "took a moment to breathe before the meeting to ensure I had a calm presence." He cited the group sessions for both helping him understand the value of using questions in leadership and also the group coach’s beginning to meetings where she has folks breathe for a bit to help all be present for the session. Last, he mentioned that he would not have done either just six/nine months ago...and praised the group sessions for helping him evolve as a leader." We'd welcome the chance to explore doing the same for you and your team.

🎙️Purpose Matters 🎙️ “I like that question, “What makes your heart sing?” I find often that when I ask people that many of them can't answer it. And so what's really important about goals to me is that they're aligned with what's real for that individual and not something that they've wallpapered onto their heart and mistaken for the real interior. I think a lot of us haven't slowed down enough to question what's authentically ours and what's been given to us by our culture or the world around us that we've taken on as a goal or a system of meaning making, and it's not actually true to who we are. And if we haven't done that preliminary work to understand ourselves at that deeper level, you could achieve all the goals you want, and they might not actually lead you to a place of satisfaction and meaning in your life.” In this episode of Qonversations, host Brian Gorman and Gabriel DeRita, PCC discuss Gabe’s fresh perspective on how to truly connect with our inner selves and align our goals with what genuinely fulfills us. Gabe, a self-described “Goal Whisperer and Connections Nerd,” shares his unique insights on moving past superficial objectives and discovering goals that resonate deeply with our authentic selves. As a “Connections Nerd” Gabe thrives on helping others create deep, meaningful relationships and understand the dynamics of personal and professional connections. If you’re ready to rethink your approach to goals and relationships, this is a Qonversation you won’t want to miss. 🔗 Tune in to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/4g8aCIe #Purpose #AlignmentWithPurpose #Presence #Networking

🎙️The Gift in Fear🎙️—“ I would just add to that, recognizing that it's almost, at a deeper level, how the machinery thinks, right? We so frequently mix up “I'm thinking” versus, “Oh, there goes the machinery actually thinking apart from me.” When we get clarity about that—“Oh, I'm not thinking. Usually, it's the program that is thinking”—all sorts of possibilities open up and we can then begin to interrupt that program if it's not serving us and set up new programming that will. So getting that clarity around who's doing the thinking or what's doing the thinking is very interesting.” In this Qonversation, host Brian Gorman talks with Fletcher Ellingson, author of "The Practice of Feeling Good: How to Upgrade Your Thinking and Live a Feel-Good Life" about how our thinking shapes our lives. One standout concept is "The Gift in Fear," which explores how our fears can actually serve as powerful catalysts for personal growth. Fletcher challenges us to rethink our attitude about fear, which can help us have the courage to change. With personal anecdotes and deep insights, Fletcher reveals how understanding the machinery of our thoughts can liberate us from self-imposed limitations. 🔗 Tune in to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/3X3J92Z #ImposterSyndrome #Presence #Intention #Courage #Mindset #SelfAwareness

🎙️Toxic Leadership🎙️—“People tell me all the time that culture can't change. The company's culture is the company's culture. What I tell them is that the building they're all sitting in and the sign on the side of that building do not have a culture. The culture shows up when the people do, every day. So if you want a different culture, you may have to decide to have different people show up, or you might have to decide that the people that are there need to be treated differently, and then the culture will change.”   In this episode of Qonversations, host Brian Gorman talks with Sean L. author of One Drop of Poison, How One Bad Leader Can Slowly Kill Your Company about how toxic leadership can affect a company’s culture and its employees' well-being. Describing leadership archetypes like "Hammy the Squirrel" and "Peacock," Sean provides a vivid portrayal of how certain behaviors can undermine team morale and productivity. One of the standout insights from the podcast is the connection between leadership and overall employee health. Sean mentions Bob Chapman’s observation that a leader’s impact on health can rival that of a family doctor, emphasizing the far-reaching effects of workplace culture and underscoring the necessity for leaders to prioritize empathy and care in their approach. The conversation also touches on practical strategies for improving leadership and organizational culture. Sean advocates for investing in leadership training at all levels and reconsidering HR’s role to better support employee development and prevent toxic behaviors. By focusing on genuine people development and aligning hiring practices with cultural fit, companies can cultivate a healthier, more productive work environment. 🔗 Tune in to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/3WDBwil #culturechange #personalchange #selfawareness #reflection #toxicleadership

🎙️Leadership Improv🎙️—“The truth is that there are skills behind it, just as there are communication skills: How to listen, how to reflect, how to be present, how to connect, how to skillfully interrupt. There are lots of different skills that go into it, and once we sort of master those we don't even think about them, we're just using them.” In this episode of Qonversations, host Brian Gorman talks with Betsy Salkind, PCC, NBC-HWC and Amy Warshawsky, MCC from BNA Mentor Coaching about the dynamic world of “leadership improv.” Improv, rooted in spontaneity and skillful listening, involves principles like saying "yes and," making statements, and embracing mistakes. One of the highlights of the conversation was Betsy’s and Amy’s demonstration of "three-word coaching," where they showed how communicating in just three words can foster clarity and depth in conversations. This approach encourages thoughtful responses and deeper reflection, challenging conventional communication norms in leadership. They also stressed the importance of silence as the client takes time to process their thoughts. (There are longer than usual silences in this portion of the podcast.) Moreover, they emphasized the importance of frameworks and feedback in developing leadership skills, urging leaders to embrace agility and create environments conducive to growth and innovation. 🔗 Tune in to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/4dt0l7G  #individualcoaching #powerfulquestions #communicatingwithimpact

Next-Level Listening🎙️—“A ‘do’ of next-level listening, particularly for leaders, is ‘next-level listeners speak last.’ A ‘don't’ is ‘next-level listeners speak first.’ Well, so there you are, leader, and you're facilitating a meeting with your team, and you have an idea to solve problem X. A next-level listening leader will offer the challenge to the team and then ask questions to elicit new ideas to solve the problem. A leader who struggles with listening will offer that idea first and then invite feedback from the team on their supposed answer to the problem. Well, that places your team members in a very challenging situation from a power dynamic standpoint. Brian, my leader, offers an idea and invites my feedback and I, in front of the entire team have to somehow, in a judicious, professional way, be contrarian to his idea. That's a big challenge. So in next-level listening, particularly in a leadership context, leaders speak last.” In this episode, Brian Gorman, host of Qonversations, welcomes Bradley James Davies, a coach at Quantuvos, to discuss next-level listening. Bradley shares his journey to becoming a better listener through executive coach training, realizing the gap between his perceived and actual listening skills. He emphasizes that effective listening involves being fully present and asking high-quality questions. Brian and Bradley explore various principles of next-level listening, such as intentionality, speaking last as a leader, and the importance of non-attachment. They discuss the impact of presence and practical techniques to enhance listening, highlighting the anatomy of high-quality questions. Their conversation underscores the transformative power of listening in personal and professional contexts. Curious about how to implement these techniques? Check out the full episode to explore practical strategies that can help you become a more effective communicator and leader. 🔗 Tune in to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/3WOrtsl #Listening #Presence #CommunicatingWithImpact

🎙️The Accessibility Advantage 🎙️ - “Thankfully, AI and voice command things are making it a little easier. There's still a time lag, you know, there are still those things that take you much longer to do than other people. But the question you have to ask yourself is, ‘It may take me longer to get there, but when I get there, what's the quality of my work?’ I have a real investment in my work. Many people with a disability are grateful to have work, because trust me, it's still hard out there. It's still 75 percent unemployment for people with physical disabilities and 85 for people with developmental disabilities. So it may take me a little longer. You may have to help me through technology, but the quality of the work is going to more than outweigh the investment that it takes.” Join us for the latest episode of Qonversations, where host Brian Gorman talks with The Blind Blogger Maxwell Ivey, a blind accessibility expert who shares his remarkable journey and insights on the importance of creating opportunities for people with disabilities. He points out that individuals with disabilities tend to be more loyal and dedicated employees, as they value opportunities for inclusion and acceptance. In addition, research shows that including qualified employees with disabilities can enhance team dynamics and morale. Max discusses how accessibility can transform the user experience for everyone—not just those with disabilities. He also sheds light on the impressive technological advancements that are making it easier for individuals with disabilities to navigate online spaces. From screen readers to voice command systems, the tools available today can help businesses reach a wider audience while enhancing overall usability. 🔗 Tune in to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/4cJOIcw #Accessibility #Bias

🎙️Learning in Today’s Work Environment 🎙️ - “So there's just a reality that a traditional approach to learning and enablement has not matched for a long time the way work is done, but is increasingly challenging, especially given people's perspective and focus right now around doing more with less or trying to do better with less. So we're reliant on learning something new or focusing on learning something, because we're all constantly learning. Learning is part of work just like it's part of life. The question is, are we learning the right things? Are we focusing on learning the right things? Are we sometimes learning the wrong things? How do we make sure people are focused on the right things that are going to be most beneficial to themselves and the organization without tearing people away or requiring time that people simply don't have?” This episode of Qonversations provides insights by JD Dillon, author of "The Modern Learning Ecosystem: A New L& D Mindset for the Ever-Changing Workplace." JD's perspective challenges the traditional norms of corporate education, advocating for a more integrated and human-centric approach to workplace learning. In the discussion with host Brian Gorman, JD emphasizes that learning shouldn’t disrupt work but seamlessly integrate into it, much like how we navigate everyday life with readily available information and tools. In addition, JD forecasts significant shifts ahead in the realm of learning and development. As organizations grapple with technological advancements like AI, the focus will pivot from mere adoption to maximizing utility and integrating these innovations meaningfully into everyday workflows. This evolution underscores the importance of not just technical skills but also emotional intelligence—a key factor in navigating the human-AI interface. There is a crucial need for companies to invest strategically in skill-building programs. This proactive approach is essential to bridge existing skill gaps and empower employees at all levels to thrive in dynamic work environments. 🔗 Tune in to the full episode here: https://bit.ly/3WhPJT5  #training #servantleadership #mentoring #horizontaldevelopment #verticaldevelopment
