Something exciting happened on January 26, 2024 in Toronto. We invited some of our closest friends, family and colleagues. We had food, drinks, balloons, lego. January 26th, 2024 is the day we officially launched the brand of our HR & Recruitment Fractional Consultancy: Purple Umbrella. Brought to you by co-founders, Martin Hauck & Monica Sarkar.

As a 50% woman-owned and led organization, we have a slightly 🌶 take on International Women's Day. While we appreciate the posts and statements made by companies and leaders for March 8th, we are even bigger fans of taking action, creating institutional change, and going beyond one day. Here are a couple of ideas to spark real change in your organization: ☂ Kickoff of a gender pay equity audit ☂ Develop an internal parental and pregnancy leave policy that provides benefits and time off for miscarriages within the first 20 weeks ☂ Expand sick leave policies to include menstrual symptoms or even develop a menstrual leave policy like many Canadian companies have done. Look to Spain, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea to develop your business case ☂ Develop strategic priorities that are centered around inclusion and equality, and review those stats every month to ensure you're actively working towards those goals. If one goal is to have your team be made up of at least 50% women, that should be 50% across all levels, including leadership. ☂ Evaluate the ATS you're using and see if you can enable a feature to anonymize candidate profiles to remove subconscious bias when selecting resumes for interviewing - this will help improve overall DEI efforts at your organization If you have any questions or need support in kicking off any of these ideas, please feel free to reach out to us.

We meet companies where they are, whether it's one-off training, embedded tactical support, or providing strategic advisory support. We collaborate with founders and leaders to build custom solutions around their immediate needs. We recently worked with the President of BEVMAX Inc, Nan Thiessen, and her team in Calgary. Here's what she had to say about working with us.
