    A common pitfall in launching a Change Management Office (CMO) is the "launch and leave" phenomenon. This happens when sponsors initially champion the CMO, only to vanish once the initiative is underway. In a recent Prosci webinar, Brittany Clark, one of our Principal Change Advisors, emphasized the need for continuous sponsor involvement. When sponsors disappear, it sends a message that the CMO might not be as important as initially claimed. That can cause doubt and disengagement across the organization. To ensure success, sponsors must remain actively involved and visible throughout the CMO's lifecycle. Continuous engagement demonstrates commitment and reinforces the CMO's value to the organization. For those leading change initiatives, remember that sustained sponsorship is key to credibility and effectiveness. Keep your sponsors engaged and actively supporting your change efforts.     Do you have the right people in your change management team? Successful change requires the right people in key roles. Here’s a breakdown of essential roles in change management: 1. Change practitioners handle the people aspect of change, ensuring employees are supported throughout the process. Their expertise in change management is crucial for planning, executing, and sustaining the adoption of change initiatives. 2. Sponsors are business leaders or executives whose involvement is crucial for change success. They perform the ABCs of sponsorship—actively and visibly participate, build a coalition of support, and communicate directly with employees about the change. 3. People managers are closest to front-line employees, often managing them directly as line managers or supervisors. They communicate change to their teams, address concerns, and support them through the change lifecycle. 4. Project managers handle the technical side of change. They ensure change activities are executed on time and within budget, and that they meet project objectives.
