We made it to Florida for the Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) Global Summit despite Hurricane Helene! For those who couldn’t attend due to the storm, we got some recap for you! One of the top challenges sites still face today, as highlighted by #SCRS, is failing to meet enrollment and diversity targets. Reducing site burden gives them more time to properly recruit patients. ⏳ Our CSO, Joseph K., hosted The Newlywed Game: Recruitment Struggles & Modern Solutions, breaking down recruitment myths and highlighting real-world solutions. Some mind-blowing insights from the session:  😱 Site burden: Some sites reported spending anywhere from 5 to 280 hours per week playing phone tag with potential participants - one even employed 7 full-time staff just for this! 📞 Side note: our Calendar Sync feature allows patients to instantly book that 1st call with the site, eliminating phone tags, and boosting conversion rates by over 350% - learn more https://lnkd.in/eY62tmN4. 🧩 Patient recruitment: When faced with two competing studies, sites will redirect 60% to 100% of their patients into the study that’s easier to run. 🎯 Central recruitment campaigns: Sponsors expect these campaigns to account for 15-35% of patient enrollment, yet they often underperform due to poor referral quality, limited bandwidth, ineffective content, and inaccurate targeting. 📃 Data return to patients: If patients want their data, why aren’t sites giving it to them? Lack of resources plays a part, but more simply, there is just no data to share! This was our third time attending DPHARM: Disruptive Innovations to Modernize Clinical Research and it never fails to fire us up. Here’s what stood out this year: 🏆Less burden, more wins: Site & patient efficiency Site burden remains as one of the main challenges we are facing. Leaders like Dennis Salotti and Brett Bishop (MSc, PhD) tackled workflow hurdles and recruitment snags. The key takeaway? Make things easier for sites and patients, and everyone wins. ⚕️Patient insights: The secret sauce Forget one-size-fits-all trials. Randy Krauss showed us how advanced analytics can power smarter study planning and site selection. But one of the most eye-opening moments came from Sarah Zenner-Dolan, a former Pharma exec diagnosed with Parkinson’s. As a trial participant, she realized just how critical clear information is for patients to engage effectively - setting expectations, preparing for visits, and resting appropriately. We agree!! 🌍 DEI: Enough talk, it's time for action Leaders like Bari Kowal, Deirdre BeVard, Angela DeLuca, Candice Fitzgerald, and Staci Hargraves are redefining what’s possible. By integrating AI and prioritizing the patient voice in trial design, they’re meeting and exceeding the latest #DEI guidelines. This isn’t just talk; it’s about creating real, impactful change and fostering environments where teams thrive and understand their roles in navigating the complexities of clinical operations. #OldDogNewTricks 🐾 Marland May, MS May surprised us with this one: late-stage physicians in their 50s and 60s, who've never done research, are diving into it to reignite their passion. Who knew? 💡Sites & patients deserve better Carrie Northcott’s session laid it out - sites and patients are asking for clear communication, fewer platforms, and easy data transfer. Instead, they’re getting chaos and burnout. Adding to this, Andy Lee pointed out how protocol complexity adds to site burden. Simplifying this could make a world of difference for both sites and patients. DPHARM showed us that it’s time to rethink, retool, and revamp how we approach clinical research.
